Ashton's P.O.V.
"Passengers flying from Sydney to London, please make your way to gate 13."
The annoyingly monotone voice of a middle-aged woman sounded through the airports' intercom - signalling that our flight was almost ready to depart. A strange feeling twisted my stomach into knots; a mixture of both excitement and straight-up fear. I almost felt sick. The other lads began saying their goodbye's while I was pulled into a group hug by my own family. I glanced over at Luke, who looked the most distraught out of us all. His mum was refusing to let go of him and I noticed the tears falling down his cheeks. As I'm the oldest, I've sworn to look after the boys, and that means Liz is holding me accountable if anything goes wrong.
I knelt down in front of my brother, Harry, so that he didn't have to strain to look up at me. He smiled weakly, sniffling quietly.
"Hey little man, don't cry. I need you to be strong." I poked his tiny bicep, causing him to giggle. "Look after Mummy, ok?" I asked seriously - and he nodded in reply.
"Sis." I sighed, embracing Lauren in a tight hug.
"Ew, gross." She muttered jokingly, but soon enough she was sobbing into my shoulder.
"Wow, I didn't know you loved me so much." I laughed.
"Shut up, you idiot." She pulled away, wiping her teary eyes. "I will miss you, though."
I kissed the top of her head, "I'll miss you more."
Wiping away a few of my own tears, I turned to my Mum who was silently crying beside Aoife. It broke my heart to see her like that. She's such a strong woman, she puts up with so much of my shit, yet here she is almost doubled-over sobbing.
"Mum, I'm not going away forever." I wrapped my arms around her tightly- it was my turn to be the strong one.
"I know, Ash. I-I knew this day would come b-but..." She broke off into another round of tears. I rubbed her back soothingly and spared a glance at Aoife.
She, too, looked distraught. I can understand why, because I've never set one foot outside Australia other than for holiday's (which were very rare)! They're just worried about me, and I'd feel exactly the same if it was one of them in my position.
"Just ring me everyday, please?" Mum pleaded as she pulled away to grip my shoulders.
"Yes, I promise." I chuckled quietly, kissing her forehead.
"And me." Aoife piped up eagerly.
I laughed as I pulled her into my chest, placing my hands securely on her waist as I kissed her lovingly. I wasn't scared to let my own tears mix with hers as we got more into the kiss- her arms wrapping around my neck as my hands moved to her hips. Someone cleared their throat and we both pulled away with red faces, and I looked over to see Calum's amused expression.
"You lovebirds done? We kinda have a flight to catch." He winked.
I rolled my eyes, placing one last, lingering kiss to Aoife's lips before picking up my suitcase and heading off with the lads.
"Love you!" I called back to them all, smiling one last time before walking through the gate.

The stage lit up as Luke began plucking the first few chords of Heartbreak Girl. My eyes searched the crowd in amazement - there were so many people. All here for us. Four outcasts from the suburbs of Sydney.
"Hello you beautiful people!" Michael screamed into his microphone.
The arena erupted into cheers and squeals. Girls and boys of all ages lined the front row, pushing forward so they were almost up on the stage with us. This is the moment I'd been dreaming of.
"Thank you so much for being here tonight. We are 5 Seconds of Summer."
"Ashton. Ashton! ASHTON!" I groaned as Calum yelled in my ear.
"What?" I mumbled, turning my head towards the window as I attempted to fall back alseep.
"Open your eyes, you dork. We're here!" He shouted excitedly, earning glares from the passengers around us.
My eyes fluttered open. Calum's right.
We made it.
