Have a nice day x

Aoife's P.O.V.
"FORGET YESTERDAY WE'LL MAKE THE GREAAAT ESCAAAPEE!" My alarm startled me, pulling me out of my 4-hour slumber. It wasn't enough sleep for anyone, but I counted myself lucky considering I'd only slept for two hours the night before that.
"Ugh." I groaned as I dragged my tired body out of the comfort of my warm duvet.
Lazily tying my hair back into a ponytail, I strolled into the small bathroom next to my bedroom. A hair wash was way overdue; so I lathered up my knotty locks with some nice smelling shampoo - in an attempt to wake me up a bit more.
Once I'd used conditioner, body wash and all that jazz; I wrapped myself up in a towel and stepped out of the shower.
I barely recognised myself when I hesitantly glanced in the mirror. My eyes were red and puffy from crying myself to sleep, and my skin looked a lot more pale than usual. What a mess.
Sighing heavily, I made my way back into my bedroom and threw on the first set of clothes that I could find; which turned out to be a grey Nirvana t-shirt and dark wash jeans. Nothing special, but I didn't exactly feel like getting dressed up.
Just then, my phone beeped and a new text message popped up.
Please be Matt. Please be Matt. Please be Matt.
But it wasn't Matt. It was Ashton.
Morning sunshine! I hope ur up & ready cos im comin over! Cya in a bit ;) x
I smiled slightly, but I couldn't help but feel a tiny bit disappointed that it wasn't Matt. I know he's an idiot and I need to get over him. But when you spend two years of your life loving someone, and then they just leave you so easily... it hurts. A lot. And it's hard to accept.
At least I had the bestest friend in the whole wide world to help me through it.

"Why exactly did you bring me here?" I asked skeptically, looking around the busy skateboard park.
"I promised I'd teach you to skateboard, remember?" He winked.
I vaguely remembered a conversation we'd had a while back about how I was too afraid to skateboard in case I'd trip over and die of embarrassment. He'd just laughed and said he'd make it his mission to teach me. But we never actually got round to doing it...
"Aoifeeee!" I was engulfed in a huge bear hug.
"Mattyyyyy!" I mimicked him, breathing in his musky scent.
"I'm bored. Let's do something." He pouted.
I looked at him with wary eyes. "Oh, well, uh... Ash told me he'd take me skateboarding today."
An odd look crossed his eyes. Jealousy? Anger? "You don't know how to skateboard." He said it like an accusation.
"I know. He's teaching me." Suddenly feeling defensive, I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Is he now?" He scoffed. His attitude was pissing me off, and I think he realised because all of a sudden, his face softened. "Fine, I'll go out by myself." He started to walk away.
Guilt flooded through me, "wait!" I called, catching up to him. "I'll ring Ashton, we can do it another time." I shrugged, leaning on my tip toes to give him a peck on the lips.
"That's my girl." He smirked.
~ Present day ~
"Hello? Earth to Aoife?" Ashton waved his hand in front of my face - effectively pulling me out of my daydream.
"Sorry, I was miles away." I brushed it off.
"No kidding." He giggled. His laugh was so infectious and cute that I couldn't help but smile. He was just such a great guy. Popular, too. He had dozens of girls queuing up for him, and yet he never even seemed to give them a second look. I guess he just liked being single.
"Okay, show me the basic steps." I motioned towards the Batman skateboard that was tucked underneath his arm.
"Yes Ma'am." He teased playfully, setting the skateboard on the ground. "Put your left foot here." He instructed, showing me what to do.
I'm left handed so he was basically teaching me to do the opposite of everything he would normally do.
"Like this?" I asked for his approval.
"Yeah, just like that! Then kick off with your right foot and you'll start moving." He stepped back, allowing me some space.
I swung my right foot back, hitting the ground for power and then swung it back forward. Before I knew what was happening, the skateboard flew out from underneath my feet and I landed flat on my back. Great.
"Holy shit! Are you alright?" Ash ran over to me and helped me up. "Did you hurt anything?"
"Only my pride." I joked. I could feel my face becoming flushed.
"That wasn't too bad for a beginner." It was a weak attempt to make me feel better; but somehow it did.
"Really?"
"Really. Most people break a couple of bones the first time." You could tell he was trying extremely hard not to laugh.
"You're totally making that up." I shoved him mischievously.
"I'm not! I swear!" He pretended to look offended.
"You sit on a throne of lies." I quoted Elf, making us both erupt into hysterical laughter.
People were glaring at us as if we were insane, and we probably were, but who cares? I was having the time of my life with Ashton right now and nothing, I repeat nothing could wreck my good mood.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seven falls, nine laughing fits and one twisted ankle later; I'd finally mastered skateboarding.
"Look, Ash!" I called as I whizzed past him.
"You've nailed it!" He looked so proud of himself. It was adorable.
I skated back over to him. "Thanks to you! You're the best teacher ever."
"I try." He grinned.
It was a spur of the moment thing - but I couldn't help myself from wrapping my arms around his neck and smiling up at him. His hazel eyes scanned over my face, as if seeing it properly for the first time.
"You're so beautiful." He whispered, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"So are you." I replied honestly.
He was beautiful. Inside and out. He had the kindest heart of anyone I'd ever met. I thanked God every day for blessing me with such an incredible best friend.
It was as if someone had sensed my unusual positivity and decided that they weren't ready for me to be happy yet. Because when I turned around, a familiar pair of chocolate brown eyes locked with my own.
"Matt?"
