The phone only had to ring a couple of times before he answered. After everything she had been through in her short life, she realised that he was the one person she could always rely on.
"Hey, Aoife!" His familiar cheekiness put a huge smile on her face, despite the fact she was crying inside.
"Ashton, I'm not disturbing you am I?"
She knew he was always busy 'banding' with his mates; Luke, Calum and Michael. They'd formed a group called 5 Seconds of Summer... Quite a cool name in her opinion. They were already growing popular on YouTube and she knew it was only a matter of time until they'd be discovered by some celebrity hot-shot for their talent.
"Course not, sweetie! What can I do for your beautiful self?"
He is such a FLIRT, she thought to herself, making her giggle mentally. It was nice to be called cute names though, seeing as she didn't have a boyfriend to do that anymore.
"I just wanted to talk I guess... Matt broke up with me." She coughed in an attempt to remove the lump that had got stuck in her throat. Saying his name aloud broke her heart a little more each time.
"Are you serious? What an arsehole!" She thought he would just be a bit annoyed; but he sounded damn right angry.
"He said he never loved me." The tears came without warning, clouding her vision as she clutched onto her mobile.
"Hey, don't cry over that waste of space. He never deserved you, you're too good for him, Aoife!" His voice softened. "I'm coming over."
"No, Ash I don't wanna bother you."
"Not at all. I'll see you in five." He hung up.
Ashton's P.O.V.
I knew as soon as I heard her 'serious' voice it was going to be something about Matt. I remember the days when she'd call me and we'd laugh for hours about the most stupid things. What happened to that happy, bubbly girl I once knew? Oh yeah, she fell for the wrong boy. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about all the ways he's hurted her over the two miserable years they've been together. Now, finally, she's free. But she doesn't see it that way. She's heartbroken. And now it's my job to pick up the pieces and try to fix her.
And I will. Because I love her.
