Riley's POV
I don't know what I felt first, the smell of the potent disinfectant or the burning feeling in the base of my neck as my eyes tried to focus on the bright lights surrounding me. There was a subtle beep every two seconds. I turned ever so slightly to my left to see my arm attached to what seems like a thousands wires
I try to move my right arm only to feel a dead weight on it
Slowly I turn to the right side to see James, he was asleep holding my hand
I was free, he found me. Lucas couldn't do anything
"Good morning" A perky blonde said coming into the room
"What time is it?" I asked
"2am, you're friend here refused to leave your side and only fell asleep 1 hour ago" She said smiling at James, I looked over at him again and I couldn't help but smile too.
With my free hand I placed in through James hair playing with it knowing full well he's a sucker for it
"I've seen a lot of worried faces in my years here, but that boy. He truly loves you" She said smiling at me as she made notes from the ongoing beeping machine
"Is he okay?" I asked and she nodded
"Nothing seeing you awake won't fix" She said smiling
"How did I end up here?" I asked
"From what I've heard, your boy spoke to someone and cracked him until he let it spill" She said and I looked down at James again
Did he really do that
I continued to play with his hair as the Nurse finally left
"No John I don't want another coffee" He grumbled making me chuckle
"Since when were you on a first name basis with my parents?" I asked making James' head rise
"Riley?" He voice called breaking as the sight of me, I smiled at him
"James" I replied giving his hand a squeeze, as soon as that word left my lips James was on his feet cupping my cheek before crashing our lips together
It had felt like forever since I had seen him let alone felt this close to him
"I'm so sorry" He cried keeping our foreheads touching as he broke down
"Hey hey hey, this isn't you fault" I replied leaning forward to kiss him again
The sudden movement sent the same burning sensation down my neck but I couldn't care. I had James and that's all I needed right now
"I should have been there, I was there 10 minutes before you but I forgot something and I had to go get it or the entire night would have been-" He rambled until I cut him off
"James, it's okay!" I replied
His deep brown eyes looking at mine with so much love and happiness that it made this whole situation seem so meaningless while we were here together
"I love you" I said and he smiled more
"I love you so fucking much" He whispered smashing his lips against mine

"Everyone is so worried about you" James said as he placed a couple kisses on the back of our now intertwined hands
"I'm not surprised, this isn't actually the most typical thing is it" I chuckled
"I can't believe I have you back" He said almost in tears again
"Thankyou for not giving up on me" I said with a subtle smile that he gladly returned
"I would never give up on you Riley" He replied
"But I'm telling you now, we are moving out of that place" He warned making me chuckle
"You can say that again" I replied making him chuckle
"Well we seem to be awake!" A Doctor said coming into the room an hour later
"Hey Doc" James said smiling
"Oh he does smile!" The Doctor said teasing James making me chuckle
"Now Riley, you aren't going to like this but we need to change your dressings. It'll hurt a lot so we'll give you some Gas and Air while we do it okay?" The Doctor said, I looked over at James honestly petrified
"It's okay Ri, I'm here" He said kissing my hand again
As soon as the wet bandages were removed I winced in pain, the cool breeze in the hospital brushing against the open wounds were enough to send chills down my spine
"It's okay Ri, you've got this" James said allowing me to grip his hand harder then I think either of us thought I could
"Okay Riley, here comes the hard part" The Doctor said, I looked up at James who placed his forehead against mine as he held both hands tightly
The moment the wet bandages made contact with the wounds again I let out the loudest scream I could, it felt like the entire wound was burning me and it was more pain then I anticipated
"It's okay it's okay" James whispered kissing to top of my head as I continued to cry
"It hurts too much" I cried, James squeezed my hands again
"Just hold on Riley, it's almost over" He replied as I let out another small scream as a small breeze caught a wound again
"Alright, that's all done. We won't need to do it again for another 2 hours" The Doctor said making my heart sink
"2 hours?" I asked
"Yeah, we need to keep on top of it Riley I'm afraid but overtime the pain will lessen I promise" He said and I nodded knowing that this needed to be done
"You did so well" James whispered as the Doctor left
"Thankyou for being here" I whispered making him smile before kissing me once again
"You won't be able to get rid of me anytime soon Ri" He said as we pulled out of this kiss
"I'm not going to complain about that" I said holding both of his hands again
I wouldn't complain about anything anytime soon
