Summer passed quickly and soon we where back in Pittsburgh for training camp . Colter was 5 months at this time and was growing quickly . I was lucky I wasn't working or I would have had my hands full with him and a job . The start of the season was fast approching and that meant Sid was back on his strict diet regimen . I'd lost over half my baby weight and was glad although I still hated the strech marks but whenever I'd complain Sid would tell me that i was a tiger that had earned her strips .
Vero had given birth to a baby boy in late July and I hadn't seen her or little Xavier yet so we where meeting up for lunch today. I arrived early to find vero arlready there .
" My you look stunning for having only delivered a baby in July . "
She laughed " I could say the same about you the baby weight came right off. And look at little Colter ,aren't you getting big . "
" Yes he is and he's already a daddies boy , Marc must be enthralled to have a son . How is Estelle handling being a big sister?"
" Quite well actually , I was a little concerned how it would go but it's going well."
" That's good my friend Sarah and I were talking the other day and her little girl Ashley just started crawling and I'm like lord help me when Colter starts crawling. "
We spent the rest of lunch catching up , we'd see each other again soon after all There was a team barbecue this weekend at Kris's house .
Saturday rolled around and it was the day of the back yard barbecue I'd made sweet Potato side dish that I was hoping would be a hit. We headed off to the BBQ and when we arrived there was already a good amount of people there. I chatted and caught up with the other girls while Sid hung out with the guys and subsequently ended up getting in a water fight with some of the kids . I'd just handed Colter over to Vero when My husband hit me with a water balloon. " SIDNEY Crosby You are so dead !" Vero told me to go ahead she'd keep an eye on the baby , good cause Sid was so dead for that . I was married to a man child of course I wasnt the only one over half the guys on the team where grown man children . I had to find something to get back at him . Well would you look at that a cooler full of water balloons how convenient . I took one or two and went to look for Sid . I ended up running into Beau " Sunshine have you seen Sid ."
" That depends if I don't tell you are you going to soak me with one of those balloons."
" Maybe ..."
" Last I saw he was out front playing a pickup game with the kids . "
" Okay thanks Beau ."
I snuck out front being careful not to be seen . He was indeed playing a pickup game with the kids . That would be him with our kids one day . One the Dupis kids saw me and I held a finger to my lips signaling that I was out to soak my husband . The kid nodded and went back to playing . During a stoppage in the game I manged to nail Sid with a water balloon the other feel and broke on the pavement " Ha! I got you . " I'd partially drenched my husband . He manged to excuse himself from the game and came over to me .
" That you did . Where's the little one."
" Vero took him for a few so I could come find you . "
We headed back to the backyard and I took Colter from Vero after about another hour it was time to eat . I laughed and talked with everyone as a sat at one of the tables that had been set up . Sid was sitting next to me a hand resting on my leg . I noticed as the meal progressed Sids hand began to creep it's way up my leg. I gave him a not here and now look and he pouted.
After about another hour we headed home it was only about 8 and after the excitment of a bunch of people Colter was out for the count however my husband wasnt he was quite frisky. " Now what do we have here." I asked as he kissed me softly .
" Nothing I just love you . "
" I love you to Sid. "
Before I knew it it was the day before our 1 year wedding aniversy I could hardly belive I'd been Mrs Crosby for a year as I lay there in bed next to my wonderful husband . I thought about everything we'd done up to this point it was hard to believe. The day passed quickly I was busy with a new part time editing job I could do from home , that wasn't mentioning a life of mother .
The next morning I woke to sunlight streaming in through a crack in the blinds . It was our anniversary today , sid had training camp the first half of the day but tonight he was takeing me about to dinner and then we could come home and watch a moive amd cuddleon the couch or other things. Sarah was watching Colter so we would have the house to ourselves . I owed her one , lost in my own thoughts I was brought back to reality by kisses . I turned around to face my husband . He had bed head and it was adorable . Our fingers intwined with each other he finnal spoke
" Good morning beautiful . "
He had that morning voice the one you get when you just wake up , and damn it was sexy .
" Good morning yourself handsome , you do know what today is don't you ? " I asked with a kiss
" Of course I do darling ." He kissed me again " Happy anniversary ."
" Happy anniversary , Sid." We spent a few more minutes cuddling before the baby monitor went off cueing us in that our bouncing baby boy was awake . With one more kiss I got out of bed and went to get him .
Over breakfast Sid asked " You coming to practice ?"
" I don't know .."
" Come on if you come we can go out for a quick lunch trip after ."
I suppose I could I'll get the baby ready. " I went to practice with Sid, things were normal until shortly after practice when Sid asked me if I wanted some time to skate . I had to think on it but I decided that since a few of the guys were enamored with Colter. It couldnt hurt , I put my skates on and joined him on the ice . It was nice to be back on the ice i'd alway enjoyed going ice skateing i'd played a couple of pick up games of hockey in my time but i cetianly wasn't cut out to play. Lack of coordination on my part, I was enjoying my time so much that when the lights dimined and the jubotron turned on cueing up music there were several songs I'd always liked . I turned to Sid to ask what. All this was but before I could he kissed me .
" Happy anniversary Claire I wanted to do something special something more then just taking you to dinner . "
" Sid you didn't have to . "
" But I wanted to , and tonight will be special as well . "
" I'm sure it will Sid Im sure it will . "
