We had one last game before we were heading back to Nova Scotia . The game was going swimmingly until a particularly odd play occurred and my husband ended talking a skate to family jewels . I winced Christ that had to hurt poor hubby . Let's hope they where still intact , I did want more babies .
After the game as we were settling into bed I kissed him " How are the family Jewels, I do want more babies eventually. "
He laughed softly and replied .
" A little sore can you get me some ice ?"
I nodded and returned with a soft ice pack and towel . " Here we are love . " I gave him a soft kiss .
" Thank you darling. "
Two days passed and we packed up the things we needed and headed to Canada . This was my second home I felt an extreme love for this town and I saw what everyone who was from here saw in it. I did most of my Christmas shopping already but had a few odds and ends I still had to pick up . Which I did before it could get to insane with last minute shoppers. I would never understand why people always seemed to wait.
Soon it was the day of Christmas eve,and I knew Colter was going to be spoiled rotten his grandparents lived him so much and his aunt Taylor adored him , and that wasn't even mentioning my side of the family who were just as infatuated with our son . Tonight we were going over to Sid childhood home to open a good amount of gifts and tomorrow until dinner we'd have the day to ourselves as a family . After I was dressed and ready I got Colter ready and then we were off .
The night was lovely Colter was spoiled by his grandparents of course and had more toys then an eight month old would know what to do with . Taylor had brought her boyfriend along an unlike last time things weren't awkward between him and Sid . That night after we tucked the baby in we exchanged our own gifts. "How many times do I have to tell you , you don't have to get me anything Sid . "
" But I do , and I could say the same to you . "
Sid had gotten me a kindle he knew how much I read it would get it's use.
The next morning we lay in bed Sid kissed my nose
" Merry Christmas baby .. "
" Merry Christmas to you to handsome , we should go get our son up . "
" Heaven knows in future years it will be the other way around him waking us up."
I laughed softly "Yes there is that , lets go ."
When we got into Colters room he was sitting up in his crib " Good morning darling. " I picked him up and kissed him shall we go see what Santa brought you? I knew but we'd get the little one excited over Christmas at a young age.
Going downstairs we found plenty of gifts toys new cloths and my personal favorite his first jersey in his fathers numbers of course. Overall it had been a great Holiday season.
One Day early in January while Sid was at practice I was trying to get Colter to walk with the help of Sarah . It was a process to say the least . He'd take a few steps and stumble but we kept encouraging him to try it. He didn't walk on his own and soon Sarah had to leave.
When Sid Got home Colter was playing on the floor of the living room and I was just tidying up a little bit . I might let him talk me into getting a part time housekeeper yet . The next thing that happened shocked me but in a pleasant way .
One moment my son sat on the floor playing with his toys ,the next he stood and toddle over to his father . I was so shocked I dropped the book that I was placing back on the shelf , it hit the ground with a soft thud . " Oh my god he walked! He walked by himself ." By this point Sid had scooped him up in his arms , before my husband could speak I did . " Sarah and I were trying all while you where at practice today to get him to walk , it wasn't looking promising and now he walks . "
" You were just waiting for me to come home,weren't you little man."He kissed Colters head .
"Our son is growing up. "
" Does this mean that I can start teaching him how to skate? "
" Not yet Sid , wait a bit alright . "
" Fine but you're a buzz kill. "
The next day I was in a baking mood so I ran to the store and picked up some things and some Premade prepared cookie dough . As I was waiting for the oven to heat up , I ate some raw cookie dough . Of course my husband would walk in and comment .
" You aren't really eating raw cookie dough are you ?"
" What does it look like to you. Besides I like to live life on the edge. Come at me salmonella ."
He laughed softly " You're ridiculous you know that ."
" I know but you love me anyway."
Later that night as I was getting ready for bed in our bathroom I spotted a huge spider in drain . I screeched don't get me wrong I wasn't typically bothered by insects or in this case an arachnid but this spider was freaking HUGE . Before I knew it Sid came running into the bathroom to see why I'd screamed.
" Claire what's wrong I heard you scream from Colters room ."
" That " I simply pointed to the huge bug .
" You've got to kidding me .That's it ? "
I nodded my head vigorously he chuckled softly a took care of the spider I breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you thank you so much darling . One of the many reasons I love you ."
" And I love you . Even if you're afraid of spiders."
" Hey don't mock me I can't be a tough hockey player like you ."
" Of course not darling ."
