This is just a filler chapter till the events of next chapter folks so I apologize if its a bit bland. Also slower updates I go back to classes Monday . Enjoy
The time came for the baby shower that the other wives were throwing for me . I was excited it would be quite fun . All sorts of activities The party was being held at Flower and Vero's house so about an hour and a half before the party I headed over to their home . I was wearing a nice blue shirt and skirt . Vero greeted me and hugged me .
" You ready for the party . "
" Of course I'm I cant thank you girls enough for putting this together ." I'm so busy with preparation and everything else ."
" It's our pleasure to do this . Go ahead and get settled and everything . It's your celebration after all. "
I helped myself to some food . Finger foods things that wouldn't bother a pregnant women . We were going to play a few games chat and catch up . Then to the main event gifts . I chatted and caught up with everyone . I had to love the theme a sports theme .Not purely a hockey theme thankfully I loved hockey but even I needed a quick break now and then from it all . Soon Vero announced it was time for some games . This could be interesting and also very awkward we would see which was more likely . We all gathered up and the rules of our first game were explained . The first game was called my water broke game . During this game the players were given ice cubes with plastic tiny babies in them whoever could make there ice cube melt the fastest was the winner . I counted down from 3 and the fun began . I couldn't help but giggle watching everyone blow on there ice cubes and try to get them to melt quickly was quite funny .The next game was measure moms belly . A quick game for the guests to try to guess how large my belly was . Then it would be measured to determine the winner.Then of course there was the obligatory diaper game a classic at almost every baby shower were pieces of different candy bars were melted in different diapers and then you had to smell and guess the candy bar brand . Last but not least was Celebrity mom trivia .
After all the fun it was time for gifts the longest part of any baby shower . I received many typical gifts a mom to be should receive at her shower . Things like lots of cloths for little Colter , a baby mointer , some essential on the go baby things like a diaper bag and its accessories ,a baby sling which i imaged was going to get a lot of use especially the first time I took the little one to a game , and of course the obligatory diaper cake. Then there were a few exciting unexpected an on the go baby mat and even a few things to help me relax . Everyone that had kids there told me I would need it and honestly I could believe it.
After the party was all done I headed home a full trunk . After everything was unloaded I took a moment to ask my husband what he and the boys had been up to while us women were occupied by the shower .
" Oh Just a pickup game of hockey in Tanger's back yard , which got me to thinking ."
" About?"
" We should really get a rink built in the back . I mean if Colter is gonna play it'd be more convenient ."
" Sid you don't have to persuade me I'm surprised you don't have a rink built back there already we do spend eight months of the year here so , yes you may build a rink in the backyard . "
It was the last home game before a 2 week road trip for the boys so I decide to go . I wouldn't get to go to many games once my son was born. I dressed in jeans and my Perron jersey and headed off to the game. Vero noticed I was'nt wearing my typical Crosby jersey and commented
" Change of pace ?"
" Yes and my other jersey is in the wash . "
" Sid doesn't mind you wearing other guys numbers ."
" Not to much , he's a little jealous but he's not the only hockey player I like so.."
She nodded and we settled into to watch the game . After the game I headed down to meet Sid I ran into a few of the guys who of course had to make comments about how big I'd gotten . I overheard a comment about how much fun it must be to pick stuff up off the floor now ." Ha ha ha, laugh it up your wives our girlfriends will hear about this and not be happy ."
I heard Chris remark " Guys, she's serious and trust me you do not want to piss off a pregnant women."
He would know having kids himself . After some more banter Sid and I headed to the car and he noticed I wasn't wearing his numbers.
" Claire."
" Yes Sid."
" I couldn't help but notice your not wearing my numbers ."
" I'm not I'm wearing David's. "
" Why?"
" Besides my Crosby jerseys being in the wash I wanted to mix things up a bit . "
" Oh .."
He was quiet for awhile and I knew something was up " Sid, is something wrong ?"
" No , nothing." he bit his lip that was my tall tell sign that he was lying
" Your lying sid I know it .. It's better if you just tell me what's wrong ." I placed a hand on his knee . He looked away from the road for a second a looked at me he sighed .
"It's silly it just bothers me a little when you wear other guys numbers I mean around the house no ,out in public yes . "
" Ah someone is jealous . You know you are the most important man in my life . I wouldn't change that ." I kissed his check " how about when we get home if your willing I show you how much I love you ."
" I can't argue with you on that ." I smiled Excellent
After a couple days I saw him off . He somehow manged to convince me to meet him in about a week in Boston . It would be my last road trip before the baby was born . It was better this way .
