Hey everyone This is a 2 parter for such a big event . I just felt the need to drag things out anyway . Suprise point of view to .. Enjoy the chapter
Today was April 16th and I was due in less then 2 weeks time . It was very clear that my body was getting ready for labor since I'd lost the mucus plug which had been protecting my cervix this entire time. The boys had game 6 tonight against the flyers hopefully we could win and end the series, then I would never have to hear about getting beat in the playoffs from Luke ,god forbid. It wasn't the hardest math-up just an extremely physical one.
I didn't go to the game instead I stayed home and invited Sarah over to watch it with me . It was a 6 o clock game so Sid left around 3:30 to get to the arena two hours early I gave him a kiss and saw him off . Sarah soon showed up and we settled in to watch the game . During a comerical break right before puck drop Sarah said to me .
" So when are you due ?"
" Two weeks although considering the lose of the mucus plug the other day sooner probably rather then later . Sid and I are keeping a close eye on things lets hope I have a the baby while he's here and not on the road . Pregnancy fear number one right after the fear of the pain or something being wrong with my baby."
" Everything is gonna be okay your just over thinking things."
"Yeah your right ." Soon the game started and sometime during the 1st period I began to experience pain very similar to that of Braxton hicks , something like menstrual cramps . A tightening feeling down below . By the first intermission the pain had only gotten worse and was making me quite uncomfortable. It felt funny almost like something wasn't quite right . Sarah really didn't notice until it got to a point I was half in a fetal position on the couch .
" Ummm Claire are you alright cause you certainly don't look alright. "
" No I'm not alright . I'm having what i'm about 80 percent sure are contractions . But It could be false labor . I mean my water hasn't broken ."
" Yeah but not every women's water breaks before contractions start. Well, we better time them and see if your going into labor ."
" Why are you so calm ? I'm freaking out internally."
" Cause , you'll do enough panicking for everyone . "
" True ... Okay get out a timer. "
We timed them and they were about 12 minutes apart .
" We should go to the hospital by the time we get there . "
I took a deep breath I was panicking I was so nervous . I had to keep calm and not panic . I guess I needed to call Sid but it was the middle of second period. He wouldn't have his phone . Plan b I dialed the one person I knew would pick up .

Normally I would never look down at my phone during a game . But it was the Middle of the second period and there was a stoppage in play since the puck had gone over the glass. I was getting a phone call it was from Claire I stepped away from the front of the box and noise of the game and answered it ."Hello , "
" Vero, we have a problem a serious problem . My little hockey player is ready for the game and he isn't waiting for his father . "
" You're in labor ? "
" Bingo , And there goes my water ... Sarah get some towels If we ruin the upholstery of the car I may have a cow. I need you to get Sid Off the ice like asap . I'm not exactly sure how but you are cleavr you'll think of something ."
" Of course , I'll get right on it good luck Claire. " I hung up this was an emergency and I knew exactly who could get Sid off the Ice . I headed out of the box and towards the box where I'd find him.
**** Sid's Point of view
9 minutes to go in the second and we where up 2-0 I'd prefer to lengthen our lead and put the last nail in the flyers coffin . I was mid shift when coach called a time out . I skated over to the bench were I noticed someone I wouldn't normally see on the bench .Mario? what was he doing down here as I'd joined the small group of guys coach spoke
" As most of you have probably inferred this isn't a normal time out . This directly involves Sid . "
Before I could even ask Mario spoke " Sid , Claire's gone into labor. "
I cursed " Shit , I'm going right now . " The door to the runway was opened and I got off the ice even as I was leaving the ice and headed to the locker room I could practically hear people speculating on my departure .
I took off all my gear once I got into the locker room. By the time I was out and into street cloths the period had to be over since the guys were starting to filter back into the locker room . A few of them wished me luck as I headed out towards the parking lot . I was surprised to be met at the car by Adams who was a healthy scratch that night . " Craig what are you doing here ?" I questioned
" You are gonna need someone to drive you to the hospital. You are in no condition or mental state to drive yourself. I would know I remember when Anne had our first kid. "
I wasn't going to protest and just got in the car . I quickly dialed Claire's number not knowing if shed pick up or not . Come on Babe pick up
" Hello, "
she sounded in pain yep defiantly labor " Claire , hang tough love I just got the news I'm leaving console right now . How far out from the hospital are you ?"
" We're about 10 minutes out , Sid I'm scared ."
" It's gonna be okay I'll be to the hospital in about 20 ,25 depending on traffic .Stay strong I'll see you soon love . " She told me that she loved me and hung up . Hang strong Claire we can do this together
