About a week after the whole false arrest story training camp started so Sid was busy . I myself only somewhat I was waiting for word on if I got that internship or not . I'd finished up my major and was only taking 6 credits to finish up my English minor . I came home after class one day and grabbed the mail then making myself a cup of tea. I sat at the counter and went through the mail . Cable bill . My Cosmo subscription for the month something from Sids agent pat . Oh what's this? I read who it was from . Oh! this was my response if i got my internship our not I quickly opened the envelope . Reading the letter
Dear Mrs. Crosby , We are pleased to inform you that your application for internship at the Pittsburgh zoo and Ppg aquarium . Your internship will start on Monday the 5th of October. Be to the zoo offices promptly at 9 am .
I smiled putting the letter down I couldn't believe it so many people had applied and I'd actually gotten in i couldn't wait to tell Sid . That night as I was finishing up cooking dinner I heard the door unlock and Stanley run to the door to greet Sid . Soon I was joined in the kitchen by him . " Hey handsome , good day at training camp . "
he kissed me " Yes . Dinner looks yummy. I don't know what I'd do without you . " he wrapped his arms around me .
" Learn to cook maybe ."
He chuckled .
" I have some good news . "
" Oh really what is it . "
" You know how applied for that internship. At the Zoo. "
" Yes ."
" Well I got a letter today letting me know that I'd Been accepted . "
" Oh. Babe that's great !"
He kissed me . " mmm I love you . "
" I love you more . "
I smiled softly . " Dinner is almost done love . I'm just surprised I got a letter so soon . I mean , that was super quick and there were so many applications I wasn't even sure I'd get in . "
"Claire don't doubt your abilities . You are excellent at what you do . "
I got dinner ready and we started to eat during dinner I said " I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that I submitted it as Claire Crosby. "
" Love I doubt it ."
Sid dug into his food .Something was up I knew that look on his face he was hiding something . " Sid spill I know that look and you are not telling me something . "
" Me hiding something ... nope . "
I gave him a stern look " It's better to just tell me . " There were a few moments of silence before it dawned on me . " Sidney Crosby ! You didn't !! "
" Didn't what ? "
" You didn't swing the odds in my favor so i could get this intership."
" I may or may not have ."
"Sid ! That's not fair ! Think about all those people that worked so hard . Then didn't get in."
" I didn't tell them to take you . I just said hey look , this is my wife and this is her dream take careful consideration . And maybe I'd get them tickets to the home-opener . "
" Sid! What am i going to do with you ?" I sighed and played with my food he'd be getting the cold shoulder the rest of the night .
Later on we were getting ready for bed I was just finished up and curled up in bed with another pregnancy book . I'd only picked up a few not counting the few name books I've picked up and was going to start palming through soon enough . I saw the bathroom light click off and Sid joined me in bed . Soon I felt soft kisses on my neck .
" your still mad at me aren't you ? "
" Yep."
" Claire I'm sorry .. But you and I both know you would have gotten in even if I hadn't said anything . "
" I know Sid it's just the whole thought of it . " He wrapped his arms around me .
" I'm sorry I know i shouldn't have but i know you really wanted in and with the baby coming i thought it better you get into the program as soon as possible . "
I nodded " Your right .. " It ended at that there was nothing to be done and there was no way to know if i got in on mere merit or otherwise I guess I'd just have to be content not knowing .
About a week later it was time for my second prenatal . Everything I'd read online said I'd get to see the baby's heart beat this time . I was super excited . Wouldn't be able to see the gender yet . This got me thinking did we want to know the gender of the baby? Should we keep it as a surprise ? I'd have to bring it up with Sid at Dinner . I headed off to my appointment . All the usually things were done blood pressure checked weight taken. I was already experiencing the increased size in my breasts and with that came the soreness I'd have to get into maternity wear soon . I should call Sarah and we can go shop together . Some of the tests results were back and there was nothing abnormal a relief. Now it was time to lay down on the table and time for the ultra sound still chilly . Not surprising . The Dr asked me a few questions as she found the small baby within me . Seeing ,that small beating heart was surreal it was real this whole having a baby thing was real . After my appointment I headed home and started dinner .Over dinner Sid asked
" So are you planning on coming to the home opener ."
" I was . After all it is the home opener . Not to change the topic but after my appointment today I got to thinking . Thinking about the baby you know at my next appointment they will be able to tell me the babies gender , and i was wondering do we want to Know the gender or do we want it to be a surprise ?"
" A good question . I'd like to know but I don't really care if we don't find out . I mean what do you think ? "
" I think it would be eaiser to know ,But I would like the suprise . We could plan a nursery and everything . I hate making decisions." I groaned
" I have an idea ." He got up from the table
" Where are you going ?"
" To get a coin ."
We're we really gonna flip a coin to decide if we where gonna find out our child's gender . I shock my head this was silly .Soon he came back with a coin .
"Tails we find out , heads we don't would you like to do the honors . "
I took the coin from him and gave it a good flip catching it in my hand then flipping it . " Tails . I guess we will know the gender of our baby .
