you walk into school,
your bloodshot eyes red
and puffy from breaking
up with your boyfriend
the night before.
you take a seat in your
first class. looking over
you see he has not arrived
yet.
when he does arrive his
tear stained eyes meet
yours. you look away as
he walks towards, your
ignoring the teacher
complaining that he's
late.
you look down at your
paper as he sits down
next to you.
"bro did you even sleep
at all last night?" you hear
his best friend question
him, his voice full of concern.
"no i couldn't, i ended
up staying up the entire
night" he mumbles his
voice low and
vulnerable. very fragile.
"did you try taking your
sleeping pills?" his
friend asks him.
he signs "there's no
point, they don't work"
he turns making sure no
one is listening before
whispering "i can't sleep
without her".
