winter | candies and jelly

the sultry air and dimming light from the sun seeped through the blinds. all windows were open, and the smell of leave found its way into your nose. you let out a sigh, as you tapped the pencil on your paper. thinking of what to write on this stupid piece of paper you've been stressing on about for the past 10 minutes.

the longer you stare at the empty paper the more sleepier you get. at this point, you're just pissed at why your teacher decided to make a self study session from 3pm until 5pm. you sighed and shook your head *this can't do, i need coffee* you thought standing up heading towards your teacher's desk

"ma'am may i go to the convenience store?" you asked, she replied with a simple nod. you walk out of class, taking your sweet time. you walk pass the other students gaining stares from them. you weren't just a normal kid, you got to admit.

you were a normal kid, not until you started dating kim minjeong the popular student from next class. everyone especially the male students are really pissed at how you got to pull THE  kim minjeong.

"oi smarty pants!" you heard a familiar voice calling you from behind. you turned back and saw ningning running up to you. you smiled and stopped walking, waiting for her to match your steps

"what are you doing outside of class?" you asked, the short girl shook her head and shrugged.

"i dont know, just out for a walk. mrs jung's is extra stressful today" she said. you laughed and told her how you find this whole staying back at school to study is dumb and she couldn't agree less.

both of you got so immersed in the conversation and did not even realize that the convenience store is just right in front of you.

"what are you going to buy?" you asked ningning as you followed her around. she was contemplating whether to get coffee or peach tea.

"don't you think coffee would be better, you're literally fighting for your life to stay awake" you said grabbing the peach tea put of her hand and replacing it with a coffee.

you then walked to the jelly aisle and picke dup a couple of winter's favorite candy and jelly. also some cute little packs of jelly beans.

"hurry up" you heard ningning call you over at the cashier. you walked towards her and placed everything on the cashier.

"pay my coffee too juseyo" she said making you roll your eyes as you get your wallet out. she let out an evil laugh when you told the worker there to count her coffee too.

as soon as the both of you stepped out of the door, you were greeted by karina who looks like she just ran a marathon.

"wow are you good? what's wrong?" ningning asked holding karina's arm as her legs became wobbly from all the running.

"minjeong" she said and then exhaled and inhaled. taking a dreep breath as she swallow the lump in her throat

"what? what's wrong with her?" you raised your eyebrows now worried.

"she,,she fainted" karina said. you gasped and told ningning to go to her class first  and immediately, you sprint your way to her class.

"she's in classroom 5!!" you heard karina's faint voice. you ran your way to classroom 5 but she wasn't there. one of her classmate told you that she's on her way to the health room, you sighed and ran towards the health room.

on your way there you saw mrs jung supporting minjeong from the side as she walks. you rushed towards her.

"oh my god are you okay?" you asked, supporting her from the other side, you looked at mrs jung signalling her that you're going to take care of minjeong, she nodded and pat your back before walking back to the class.

minjeong didn't answer your question but a small whimper escapes her mouth instead. you calmed yourself down and made your way into the health room.

you gently lay her down on one of the bed and took her shoes off as you sit next to her. you see tear marks on her cheek and felt your heart stinging.

"hey, what happened to you" you asked as you caressed her cheek gently with your thumb. to your suprise, she sloped your hand away from her cheek. you were dumbfounded at how she was acting.

"minjeong-ah?" your tone changed. minjeong slowly turns her back towards you, followed with a soft sobbing.

"hey what's wrong" your voice sounded sad mixed with worry. you then took your phone out from your pocket. your heart dropped when you saw 4 miscalled and 12 unread messages from her.

i feel dizzy too, i really can't focus rn

i cant hold it my stomach hurts so bad

"oh my god" your heart sank, you looked at minjeong who has finally calmed down. you walk to the other side of the bed, and crouch down to match her eye level.

"babe, im sorry i was-"

"was having fun with ningning right..i know" she said avoiding eye contact. so that's why she's mad. it wasn't because you didn't read her text entirely but it was about you and ningning too. she must've saw the both of you pss her class

"babe i was only going to buy candies with her. and we did not even plan it, i ran into her" your hand went to hold hers. caressing it gently. her frowning eyebrow slowly starts to relax.

"and hey i bought you your favourite candies and jellies too" you said holding up the plastic bag that was on your wrist. her eye that was glued on something else followed the plastic bag.

"im sorry, okay?" you smiled, feeling a little relaxed now that minjeong does not look that mad anymore.

"sorry.." minjeong mumbled, looking up and making eye contact with you. you smiled and pinched her soft mochi cheek.

"no, im sorry okay?" you said. leaning in, kissing her forehead trailing down to her cheek.

"im a little sensitive today" she said sitting up from her position. you smiled and nodded, knowing what she meant.

"come here" you pulled her in for a hug, she buried her face into the crook of your neck, sniffing the cologne you sprayed before coming to school.

"can we go home?" she whispered. you pulled away from the hug and laughed and cupped her cheeks, squeezing it.

"sure honey, lets go" you said. the both of you made your way out of the room and walked back home together.

minjeong was extra clingy on the way home, most likely because she felt bad for getting angry at you earlier.

"i love you" you said.

"i know" minjeong let out a chuckle as the both of you interlock your fingers.
