the sky at night is a beautiful sight. in books or poems, they would would describe the night sky as a blessing. or something near to comfort and healing.

but for winter, whenever the hands of the the clock points to midnight, the universe mocks her with the reminder of her loneliness.

it's been three years, and the event should've been pushed to the back of her head by now. but it comes to her every night for three years straight and no matter how she tries to forget the sight of your sad eyes that stared into hers that day, it's just impossible.

winter does not know why she have been feeling so empty for the past years. all she has ever wanted are all just a step away from her. her dream to become an idol came true, she got into her dream company and she's dancing and singing. something she couldn't do back during high school.

winter's eyes darted to the window, glancing at the watch on her wrist.

23:56

four minutes. four minutes until she's introduced to the idol industry, along with million and thousands of people. saying that she's not nervous is an understatement. if her members were near her, they could've probably heard her heart beating so fast.

her eyes glanced to the watch once again, only two minutes left. she lets out a sigh as a bittersweet feeling showered her heart. happy that she's finally debuting. yet, heartbroken at you not being by your side anymore to witness her achieving the one and only dream she have been chasing.

winter knew how you were not quite sure of the idea of her debuting as an ido as you did not want her to be exposed to the harsh world, the cruel industry and all the things that could take a toll on her mental health.

but you were always so supportive. waiting for her at school until late hours just so she could practice singing and dancing without getting scolded by her parents for the noises she was making.

a minute left. and the only person she could think of right now is you. she wonders if you will be seeing her teaser photos. she wonders if you will even remember her, she wonders if you forgive her or not.

"unnie! the picture came out so pretty!!" ningning burst the door to winter's room open, shoving her phone into the older girl's face. the frown that was on winter's face is now replaced with a smile as she examined her teaser picture, zooming in and out.

"i— i look good" winter blurted as they laugh in unison. just then winter's phone started blasting off to thousands of notifications and messages from her friends and family. she happily replied to each one of them with the biggest smile on her face.

"i can't wait for the company to post our group picture, i hope they turn out well" the chinese said as she left the room, phone in her hand. winter was occupied with replying to all of those text messages, ignoring the younger girl.

all of these text messages but she can't seem to feel anything. winter is foolish and stupid. hope was and has always been her biggest weakness. she caught herself in the trap of wishful thinking and inflicted the pain in her own heart by having hope in seeing your name pop up in her notification bar, congratulating her on her debut.

"hello?"

hearing the familiar voice on the other line picking your call up made you smile. these past few week, college have been so harsh on you. you would wake up when the sun is still not out and return back home when its dark.
