"Where are we going?" Aiden asked for the third time, and James clutched the steering wheel in irritation but didn't reply. He glanced in the rearview mirror with a grimace quite a few times while we drove away from the motel.

Because we left so early, I had to rush and pack up the dirty clothes I washed at the motel. Our clothes were still a bit damp in the dryer, which was super disappointing. I used the last of the quarters from that $20 bill I took. I wish someone would've told me that the dryer was in need of fixing.

Hopefully, they'd dry by the time we got to our next location, wherever it was. I was secretly praying they wouldn't grow any mold from staying in the trunk of the car too long.

"Why did we leave so early anyways? Those creatures weren't there, we could've stayed a bit longer—"

"I'm sorry, did you want for the danger to come to us before we ran away?" James snapped at me and brought his eyes back to the road. "If anyone asks another question I'm pulling over and kicking you out of my car. Understand?"

His reason for leaving as early as possible made sense. It was better for us to escape while we could than to wait for the danger to come to us. It seemed that he was proving to be right all the time more recently, which was very frustrating.

"I have to go pee.." I mumbled.

"Me too!" Aiden chimed in agreement. James groaned and thankfully, left the exit of the interstate and pulled into a gas station.

"I'm giving you both 15 minutes to handle your business and come back. If you're not out in 15 minutes, I'm leaving. Understood?" He jumped out of the driver's seat. Aiden hopped out as well, very happily and rugged on James's shirt with a pout.

"Can I get a snack too?"

"Do you have money?" James arched his eyebrow at him. When Aiden shook his head, James rolled his eyes and sighed. "Then no, you can't have a snack. I'm not giving both of you guys any money, it's mine."

"..okay." Aiden frowned, sounding very defeated. I hopped out of the car and narrowed my eyes at James. He knew that I was glaring at him. If I had the time to grab my wallet from my dorm while we were attacked at the college, I would've been able to pay for my own things.

I ended up leaving my cell phone, and my wallet. The only thing I had with me were my keys and my bag with my textbooks and notebooks. I brought them along with me because it was all I had at the time.

"Bring me something to eat though." He handed a small amount of cash to Aiden. Aidens sad gaze continued as he took the money. "Bring back anything." James tapped him on the shoulder.

"How could you do that—" I started, but James pulled out his phone and tilted it.

"Your time is running out. 12 minutes left." James smirked and brought his attention to the gas pump. Aiden and I rushed into the small store. I knew James was serious about leaving us here. If he did it once, he was going to do it again. There was no reasoning with him.

Aiden walked in first and went straight to the back of the store. However, when I walked in, I got a strange stare from one of the men inside. He was an older man who looked to be in his late 40s, wearing a heavy coat with raggedy pants and combat boots. I ignored him as I walked straight to the women's restroom.

I hoped that if Aiden came out first that he'd convince James to stay a bit longer to wait for me just in case my time ran over.

I ran into one of the stalls and used it, before leaving it to wash my hands. I washed my face with the cold water too and made minor fixes to my appearance. My hair was a bit tangled but it was okay, a little water could help fix it.
