nightmares ~ thomas 1

the glade was silent, everyone fast asleep, but the night time only brought the nightmares. you used to be a runner, along with newt, but when newt tried to end everything for himself, you gave it up, but the memory of finding one of your closest friends, someone you saw as family even.

you were running, desperate. "newt!" you screamed, but there was no response, until you turned a corner and was shocked to see him stood on the top of a wall. "get down from there, are you insane." he said nothing, staring at the skyline, before jumping. you screamed, helplessly.

"y/n! wake up. it's just a dream." you heard, thomas shaking you awake. you sat up, panting, tears streaming down your face. you sighed, trying to get your breathing under control again. wiping the tears off your face, you stared forwards, before standing up, causing thomas to tilt his head in confusion. you held out your hand for him to take, which he did, pulling him away from where you were situated just seconds ago.
you made you way into a more isolated spot and sat down, thomas doing the same. "i used to go in the maze, and i saw things i won't ever forget." you stated, your eyes never leaving the ground. thomas said nothing, but instead pulled you into his embrace. you nuzzled your face into his chest, listening to his heart beating, grateful he was there.
