alex's pov-
"mer, have you seen y/n?" i asked, jogging to catch up with the woman. "not since yesterday, why?" she asked, frowning. it was very unusual for y/n to be this late, and it was getting slightly concerning. "she hasn't answered any of my calls or texts. i'm really worried." i huffed, chewing my lip. "evil spawn is worried now?" christina taunted, walking over to myself and meredith. "what?" the woman asked, shifting her gaze between myself and meredith. "y/n hasn't answered any of alex's texts or calls and she's late." meredith explained, causing christina's face to twist into one of confusion. "massive trauma is heading our way, i need all hands on deck!" owen called to the three of us, breaking us for conversation. "and where is y/n?" he grumbled, walking away.
we were currently getting ready for the trauma coming in, knowing it was a pretty bad crash victim heading our way. "i just don't understand." i continued, before looking at meredith as she turned to me. "oh my god. what if something's happened to her?" my face dropping in realisation. "alex, she might have just slept in, or had to deal with something. you never know." meredith tried to comfort me, but was clearly uneasy herself at the thought of one of her friends being injured, as the ambulance made its way towards us.
"y/n y/l/n, female. her car was overturned in a ditch where she had to be cut out of the vehicle." i froze, my mouth agape, my stomach dropping at the mention of her name. "karev, you're off this case." i heard hunt order, as i pulled off the yellow gown and gloves. "come on. out." he pushed, encouraging me out of the trauma room. i stood outside the room, i felt sick at the sight of the woman i loved laid on the table covered in blood, unconscious. i felt myself sliding down the wall behind me, my body giving out on me as i watched my colleagues attempt to bring her back to me.i had been waiting all day for y/n to be brought up to the room she would be staying in. i didn't move from the waiting room, i didn't eat, i didn't speak. i waited for her. when she was finally brought back up from the o.r. i stood up, my eyes scanning over her body. cuts and bruises littered her body, her face barely recognisable from all the bruising. the bandages were wrapped around her body, the damage being covered up. the tubes hanging out of her mouth made me sick to the stomach. i wanted nothing more than to hear her voice, her sarcastic remarks or her complaints about the smallest things. i wanted to bring her home with me and hold her as she sleeps. i found myself breaking down at the sight of her, my hand gripping hers in desperation. i just wanted to see her smile again.
