ben was currently playing in a premier league match and chelsea was doing well so far. i had stayed home, due to the pandemic, which ben had advised, for some reason. i was curled up in the corner of the sofa, currently replying to my best friend's text when i heard the commentators. "and chilwell is down!" one announced, causing my head to snap up, staring at the screen. as expected, ben was currently laid out on the pitch, holding onto his leg like it was going to drop off. the match had currently been stopped and we were waiting to find out if ben could play on.
eventually, it was out that ben was unable to play the rest of the match, and got taken off the pitch to get treatment. i turned off the tv, awaiting a text or something to tell me he was fine. it had been a good half an hour and i turned to see my phone vibrating, ben's name lighting up the screen. "hello?" i sighed, picking up the phone. "hey darling." ben replied quietly. "where are you? i'm leaving in a minute." i told him, ben stayed silent on the other side of the line. "i'm on my way to the hospital, y/n." he informed me. "i'll meet you there." i sighed, hanging up and grabbing my keys.
i walked up to the reception in a hurry, desperate to see if ben was okay. "ben chilwell." i smiled at the receptionist as she typed his name into the system. "you are?" i huffed, looking directly at the woman. "his girlfriend." "he's in bay 4." she replied, returning the smile. i turned, noticing the sign directing me to the correct area. i walked towards the space, pulling the curtain back to see ben, laid in bed, looking like he was in agony. his eyes met mine, as my face fell, before i was scanning over his body, making sure he wasn't injured anywhere else. i walked towards him, placing my hands on either side of his face, sighing. "i'm okay." he tried to reassure me, as he sat up further, wincing in pain. "stay still, ben." i scolded, my hands still situated on his face. i leant down, connecting my lips with his in a small kiss, before sitting in the chair next to him. "they think i need surgery." he complained, looking at his knee. "i'm not gonna be playing for the rest of the season." he continued, clearly kicking himself at the moment. "focus on yourself ben. you can play in the next. you need to get better." i pointed out, reaching for his hand to intertwine our fingers. he smiled at my actions, nodding, realising i was correct.
