I clutch my left hand to my chest; feeling tears run down my face. I literally just seen him "Reid?! Oh my." I turn and run to the staircase. "HELP!!! SOMEBODY!!!" I scream at the top of my lungs. George and Phillip come to the stairs "What is it, Cap'ness?" Phillip asks "The Captain...he is gone." I say, holding back the urge to vomit as my nerves are shot. George leaves the stairs and Phillip comes down to investigate. I try to hold back my tears as Phillip goes into Reid's room and gasps sharply "I can't believe this!" He exclaims "I just seen him earlier. He was fine." I say softly, crossing my arms. I hear footsteps rushing down the stairs, and I see Abdalla with shock on his face "What happen to him?" He asks. I shake my head "I-I don't know, I sawr him like this and-" "What is it?!" Rowan shouts, cutting me off as he rushes down the stairs and fights through the crowd. Gregory moves aside so Rowan can look in the room. The scream he lets out hurt physically; like a gunshot to the chest. My husband sobs violently as he drops to his knees, I slowly get up and walk to him "He was a good man, Cap'n." Phillip says "Don't call me dat...don't." Rowan whispers. I touch his right shoulder with my left hand causing him to look up; his eye filled with so much sorrow. I shake my head before he pulls me down "I'm so sorry, Rowan." Is all I can say as I hold him in my arms. I close my eyes and begin to wonder; why wouldn't anyone take him, or Doc, to a doctor, or at least someone in the medical field?! I'm so perplexed about this, and am giving almost anything to be home. Rowan wipes his eye and looks up "Would e'r'one mind please? I need a moment alone wit da Cap'n..." He says solemnly. I wave my left hand dismissively at the crew and stand up. Rowan now grabs my right hand tightly; I pat his hand and let go of him. As I look back before heading up the steps and following the crew I see him laying down next to Reid...it breaks my heart. I spend time with the twins and try to get my mind off of it, but I can't. He was my Father-in-Law in this timeline. An hour passed and Rowan walks in; sniffling. I look at him and smile softly. "Da funer'l is happenin'..." He trails off, looking down at the floor sadly. "Alright. Let me get the babies ready." I say. Rowan slowly walks over to me as I set Thomas down into the basket; causing me to look at him. "Are you feeling alright? I'm so sorry." I whisper, wrapping my arms around his neck and holding him. He hugs back tightly "I'll be a'right, Lassie..." He whispers back. We let go of each other and I set Elizabeth in the basket. We head up to the Main Deck and I grimace to see Reid's corpse. Rowan wraps his arm around my shoulders as I watch our crew silently weep. George and Louie stand end to end as Rowan heads up; I hold the basket and feel tears roll down my cheeks. Rowan clears his throat and looks up. "He will always be da Cap'n of dis ship, no matta what. I really can't speak much 'bout dis..." He trails off. George runs up to Rowan and his hands on his shoulders "He was ze best Captain there was." He says before turning around to look at us and taking a deep breath.
He begins to sing as well as the rest of the crew. I stare in awe as Rowan looks down and closes his eye. The twins begin to cry loudly making me kneel down with them to keep them quieted down. As they sing I feel a wind present against my black, straight hair; I can sense that things are about to become much worse. Once they finish their song I look back at some of our crew; who nod and let me go tend to Rowan. Rowan looks up at me and reveals a soft grin, before turning around and nodding at the men. I watch as Reid's corpse gets picked up and thrown into the depths below...I can't believe I'm witnessing this. Rowan watches Reid fall in "Beannachd m' athair. (Goodbye, my father.)" He says before I hear a splash. I put my left hand to my eyes and I feel arms wrap around me. "T'ank ya, Lassie, fer bein' there." Rowan whispers as I nod. Rowan now moves away from me and stands up straight, our crew looks at him. "I wish it didn't have ta be dis way, I would of neva wished death on Cap'n Reid. Da man meant more ta me t'an anyone will e'er know." He says. "Today, I have become da new Cap'n of De Night Soul." He says as the crew just claps; I'm pretty sure everyone feels so lost. As half of the crew goes back to work I walk over to my twins and see Marx, brown haired and blue eyed, letting Elizabeth play with his index finger "Thank you for watching them." I say as he nods "It be an honor, Cap'ness." He says whilst nodding before getting up and moving away. I turn around to see Rowan coming up to me with a soft grin on his face "Hey, Row..." I pause, watching him pick up Thomas gently and look into his eyes. "Rowan?" I ask. Thomas coos at Rowan causing him to smile "I'm here, Lad. Ye'll need tons o' trainin' ta become next in line, boy. I promise, I'll neva let nothin' happen ta ya." He says softly; Rowan now puts his forehead to Thomas' and I watch the bond between new father and son. I now pick up Elizabeth "Rowan, that...that was wonderful." I say in awe "Hmm?" He hums "You're going to be a great father is all. Thomas and Elizabeth are so lucky to have you." I say. He now looks up at me "I hope so, Lassie. I really do. Fer I would of learned from de best." He says sadly, a small tear runs down his cheek. I look at him sympathetically "Rowan, I'm so sorry. He really was amazing, and he was like a father to you." "He wa'n't like me fat'er, Lassie. He was me fat'er, an' always will be." He says before setting Thomas down in the basket. "I need ta start gettin' ready, Lassie. Ye watch de babes fer me." He says whilst putting his hands on his hips "How come? Working hard?" I ask with a small laugh to try to lighten the mood. Rowan shakes his head "Nope. I'm gon' get me revenge, Lassie. Reid an' Doc won't die in vain." He says darkly. I now give him a confused look "What do you mean?" "Grant'll leave de face o' dis sea. I'll make shure o' it." He snaps. Thomas begins to cry and I pick him up "Rowan, don't. Okay, you're a father now, just live for them." I beg. Where would Grant even be these days? I don't even think he was in Greece "Me father di'n't leave 'ere jus' fer me ta live fer 'im!! I mus' do this!!" He shouts. My eyes widen and he sighs. "Lassie, Alice, I want us safe. An' if I have ta kill, so be it." He says angrily before storming off and looking at Abdalla to his right. "Take 'em back ta da cabin. I don't wish fer 'em ta be up 'ere." He says before continuing to walk "Aye aye, Captain." Abdalla says before looking at me. He leads me back to the cabin and I sit on my bed. "I am sorry, Alice." He says. I look at him "Abdalla, he can't kill Grant! Don't let him do this!" I beg, he shakes his head "Captain's orders." He says before leaving. I look down at the twins and console them "It's gonna be okay, guys. Your daddy won't do this. I'll make sure of it." I say determinedly. Why would Rowan do this? I understand that he wants Grant dead, but at the risk of us? I look out the window to gaze at the ocean horizon and sigh sadly. This is a nightmare! "Wake up." I whisper to myself before balling my right hand into a fist. "Wake up, wake up!" I exclaim, the twins begin to cry before I take a pillow and begin to pound on it. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!! Take me back home!! Please!!" I shout desperately. "I wanna go home! I wanna go home!! I WANT TO GO HOME!!!" I scream. The twins sob and I look at them; I need to quiet down. Tears begin to roll down my cheeks and I cry. Why did this have to happen? Why am I here? I wipe my eyes gently before holding the twins atop my lap. Elizabeth begins to coo at me and I smile. "We're going to be okay, babies. I promise." I say. I watched the twins into the sunset, and I look out the window to see nothing but darkness. I cock my head to the side and put the twins in the basket. I can't believe Rowan still hasn't gotten back yet; it's been hours. I hope he's alright; I couldn't imagine if something happened to him now. I walk up to the staircase and look up to the dock. "Rowan? Rowan, are you up there?" I ask, just as I start to walk up the stairs Mark runs down the stairs and cups my mouth; I can hear swords clashing and people yelling. He puts his left index finger to his lips and mouths "Grant.". My eyes widen, oh no, what happened?! The twins begin to cry and he tells me to go back down and lock myself inside "I need to find Rowan." I say quietly "He's at the Helm, I promise, Cap'ness!" He exclaims before shoving me lightly. "You must hide! Grant be out fer blood!" He exclaims. An idea pops into my head, and I rush down the stairs. I have a memory of me watching a movie and the woman puts her baby in a box; it's not a great idea at hand, but it will help me keep the twins safe. I put the babies in the box while they sob "It's okay, babies. Mommy will be right back!" I exclaim. I now rush back to the staircase to see that Mark has disappeared. I rush up to the top of the stairs; there is gore slashing every which way, and our crew fighting for their lives. I look down and see the corpse of a man I do not know. "I'm sorry." I say before grabbing his sword with my right hand. I never had any idea that swords were this heavy; I drop the blade to my feet and try to keep myself poised. "I need to find my husband." I say determinedly. I begin to rush through the violence while few men died under my feet, I can hear a cannon shoot off causing me to see Abdalla working them. "Oy, it be da Cap'ness!!" I look ahead of myself to see a man with one eye, bald, and with a brown goatee "Ya got that right." I say, taking the sword and swinging it like a baseball bat. I slash the man's chest making him yell out. "Out of my way." I say triumphantly before running to the Helm. I duck underneath a barrel flying over me, and swing a sword at every man I did not recognize. Looking up to the Helm I can see two people; it must be Grant and Rowan. Someone now grabs me by my waist and flings me around; I scream and manage to kick my feet into the crotch of my assailant making him yell out. "ROWAN!!!" I scream, rushing my way to the Helm "Cap'ness, watch out!" One of my crew warns and I see a rope fly my way. I begin to think of an idea; I climb the rope as hard as I can with my sword. Let's see I can get Grant like this, and save my husband. I hope this works.
