I see myself in sheer darkness, I try to look around to find anything. Am I dead? I can't be dead "I hope you'll wake up soon. I can't do this year without you." I hear a familiar, female voice "Hello? Hello, I'm here!!" I shout "I wonder what you're thinking about. I miss you so much. Please come back." She says. I look up and scream "WHY CAN'T NOBODY HEAR ME?!!!" "The water is the answer." Another female voice says and I shake my head "No-"
...
"Lassie, Lassie, ya alright?" I open my eyes to Rowan's blue one...I'm still here, Rowan's okay? He looks older, more built, has a Glasgow on the right side of his cheek, his voice is deeper, his hair is a bit longer, and he even has a Sea Captain beard. My eyes widen "Rowan?" I ask and he chuckles "Yes, Lassie, o'course! Ya sleep like da dead!" He laughs heartily "You look so...different." I say oddly. What is going on? He helps lift me up and sits down beside me on the bed "Dif'rent? Hmm, I trim't me beard a wee bit ago. Ya told me ya liked it?" He says questioningly. I nod and smile nervously "Hah, right. So, I just had this weird dream...about you and, Grant..." I trail off. How do I go about this? Rowan looks at me confusedly "Lassie, you're still havin' 'em? It's okay, ya saved me life," he bows, "ta dat, I owe ya all me respect." He says as I chuckle "Oh stop. But...did that all, really happen?" I ask, Rowan looks over to his right before nodding slowly "Aye, it been eight years since it happened, Lassie...dat man saved me just in time." He says spaciously. My eyes widen "E-eight years?! What? H-how old are you?" I ask in shock. He now looks at me and arches his brow "I be goin' on twenty-two, yous almost twenty, rememba?" He asks with a nervous chuckle. I rush over to the mirror in our room...my hair has gotten even longer, and I have lost some weight. I shake my head and sigh "What is going on? I woke up eight years later?" I ask. Rowan comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist from behind "Lassie, are ye feelin' okay? Ya prob'ly jus' had a nightmare." He says reassuringly, kissing the left side of my head. I shake my head "Rowan, Row, I'm sorry. I was just worried about you, I thought you died." I say sadly "I understand, Lassie. I do, but I'm alright. An' so are da twins. I love ya, Alice." He says comfortingly before looking at me lovingly through the mirror. I smile warmly "Well, at least he's finally of age now." I think. I turn around and edge my lips to his; my heart beating fast. I pause when I hear a sudden splash, and I look over to the left while Rowan laughs "It just be da kids. D'ey love de ocean!" He exclaims. My eyes now widen and I run out of the room in a panic! He lets them play in the ocean?! I race up to the Helm "KIDS!!!" I scream. I see two heads come up from the ocean's surface "M'athair!" They both chirp "Kids, get up here and out of the water, please!!" I shout "Lassie, d'ey jus' havin' fun." Rowan laughs "Grr, Rowan, what if they get attacked by sharks?" I ask "Lassie, d'ey won't. D'ere Wellerman!!" He shouts. I suddenly see a young boy and girl; both with strawberry blonde hair and bluish hazel eyes. "M'athair, we were just playing in da water." Thomas says in a British accent whilst scratching his belly "I know, but I just worry for you guys is all." I say "M'athair, can we keep f'wimming, please?" Elizabeth asks with a British accent sweetly "Now what if The Night Soul sails awa-" "Lassie, I place da anchor down so d'ey could, an' I put down a ladder fer 'em so d'ey can climb up it." Rowan interrupts, almost whining with the kids. I roll my eyes "I swear, I have three children." I say and I look at my children. "Very well, but be careful. I don't want neither one o' ya ta have hands like your Daddy." I say with a laugh as Rowan scoffs "Hey now! Now what's wrong wit me hands?!" Rowan asks playfully. The twins begin to laugh and Elizabeth hits Thomas' right shoulder "C'mon, Thomas, let's go!" She chirps and they both jump off the boat! I run to the edge "Be careful!!" I shout after them. Thomas and Elizabeth land with a splash "D'ey won't wind up like me, Alice. I'm sure o' it." He says. I smile warmly; seeing the kids splash around and swim below the water. It reminds me of how I was as a kid, I loved water. This new life hasn't been so bad at all...I suddenly feel a presence beside me, and I look to my left to see Rowan watching the twins with glee in his eye "They're like mermaids, you know. They take after me." I say with a laugh. Rowan now looks at me weirdly "Lassie...yer afraid o' de water, er at least ya were." He says as my eyes widen; really? I'm afraid of the water? "Then why on earth am I on a boat?!" I shout loudly whilst Rowan laughs "Aye, Lassie, ye have a point," he wraps his arms around me, "but if ya di'n't come on here, we would have neva had all dis." He whispers. I now look up at him; beginning to realize how much I miss another Rowan, one that was smart, daring, had big dreams for himself, and loved me...Rowan looks at me quizzically. "Somethin' da matter, Lassie?" He asks and I grin "Oh. Nothing. Just thinking of how I love you is all." I say lovingly. Rowan smiles and blushes making me giggle "An' I love you, Lassie." He says with a smirk. I now lean forward and give him a peck on the lips; he stumbles back for a moment in surprise before leaning back in again. We kiss more passionately this time, and it feels like time has stopped. As we kiss I feel myself looking back on this life; I have accomplished so much at such a young age, and Rowan and I have done so much. We break the kiss and I look down at the kids; watching the children play in the ocean and diving. It still worries me about the sharks "It's time. I just wanted to say thank you." A voice whispers in my head. I turn back around to see nobody but Abdalla, an older man now, he gives me a gentle nod and warm smile. I smile back "Odd." I think "M'athair, Athair, please come swim wit us!!" Thomas yells from the ocean, I look down to see him and Elizabeth swimming to stay above the surface "Oh, honey, I don't think it's a good idea." I say before Rowan gets to the right of me "Oh, Lassie, ye gotta get used ta da wata. C'mon, swim wit us!" Rowan encourages "Take the jump." The voice tells me again. I stand wearily before Rowan prepares himself to jump "Rowan." I say, he looks at me with a question mark on his face. "I, I just wanted to say I love you, and I'm really thankful for being here. Thank you. You've helped me become a much better person." I say. Rowan smiles softly "Thank ya, Lassie. I love ya too. Now, let's jump inta dis wata. I'm right here fer ya." He says before taking a jump, doing two backflips, and diving into the ocean below. I guess I should go, something keeps telling me I should. I take a deep breath "Goodbye world." I say to myself. I take a few steps back and charge to the end of the boat; I feel free and light, I don't know if this is it. Maybe this is the end of something, and a new beginning. As I jump off the rail of the ship; I feel myself fall from the ship through the gravity, where I see what looks to be a small bed below the water. It feels like I'm falling for a minute, until I plunge into the freezing water...freezing, why is it so cold, and dark? Everything went black as I plunged it, and everything falls silent...
