Chapter 14

Xander’s POV

This is all FUCKED UP.

I looked at my sweet Sammie who was sleeping beside me, she fell asleep after I reassured her that we will find her cousin Maria. Sammie is the only good thing happening to me this past two days, I actually don’t know if I would be glad or what about the rogue attack. Maybe I’m still thankful even for a little bit.

I should be thankful that those rogues didn’t get away with my mate, but I still can’t come around to the idea that she is safe for now. I have this gut feeling that it’s only just the start. Maybe I’m just worked up after everything that had happened and knowing that my sweet mate could also end up like Maria, on the hands of that unknown enemy.

‘At least we know that she can kick anyone’s ass, if she wanted to.’ A smirk was instantly drawn to my face. I nodded my head in agreement to my wolf, remembering the black rogue who Sammie was fighting off yesterday. It was almost lifeless when she ran off away from the fight, and it died instantly with one blow from Macky’s wolf.

My wolf growled at me when I mentioned Macky at my thoughts. ‘Relax, he knows where he stands.’ I reassured my wolf but even inside my thoughts it sounded lame. I know I should not be jealous but I can’t help it.

‘He likes our mate!’ My wolf hissed at me giving me mental images of what we saw this morning, Macky sitting closely to Sam.

‘Fine, I’ll talk to him.’ That made my wolf shut up. He got me there, making me remember that scene. I was almost ready to go wolf and rip Macky into shreds.

I remembered the first time I got jealous, and I think you guys know what I’m talking about.

Yeah, that human training day, where I just budge in telling them that I’ll be Sammie’s partner. The day that I almost kissed her, thinking about it now I wish I did kiss her back then but I was all confused.

At the time I didn’t even know what I felt when I saw Sammie on Macky’s arms, it was a very foreign feeling and I just admitted it was jealousy just awhile ago when I felt the same when I saw Macky beside my mate. Even when I was dating Sarah I never felt that kind of feeling.

Speaking of Sarah, I was just thankful that we ended up things before all these happened. Yes, I liked her back then, she’s a beauty, but my mate is the most beautiful of course. But after I shifted it felt all wrong being with Sarah, thought I was happy but now I realized what happiness really felt.

I was actually thankful that it was Sarah that ended things between us, it saved me a lot of time and effort for putting on a good excuse why I want to break up. And I’m glad that we still stayed as friends after what happened.

She was actually happy for me this morning when I told her that Sammie’s my mate, she told me that she had a hunch even before when we were dating that Sammie would end up my mate. Oh well I guess I’m the only one clueless about who my mate is. I chuckled on my own stupidity.

“What’s funny?” Oh my sweet little mate’s awake, I flashed a toothy grin.

“Had a nice nap?” I asked as I put away some strands of her silky brown hair away from her beautiful face.
