Chapter 6
Nothing. Not even one text message from Xander. Sheeeesh. What do I expect?
But I can’t help thinking about him. He was not himself these past days, when someone throws a joke he’d just smile and won’t utter a word. He’s not like that; he usually throws another sillier joke to make us laugh more. I’m really starting to get worried and bothered.
After that incident on human training I feel like Xander has been avoiding me. I still see him at school, we still eat together at lunch with our friends, but he wouldn’t talk to me until unless it’s necessary. And I noticed that he’d make sure that we are not left with only each other’s company.
I know, I know, I should not over think things. He is now a were in an Alpha family, that means he is now given responsibility of some sort for our pack’s sake.
“Sheeeeesh. This is really frustrating!” I covered my face using my pillow.
“Sam! Get down here, your grandma is here already.” Thank God grandma is here, I’m starting to get bored and when I get bored I start to think things too much.
It’s Saturday, and it’s my birthday party. They are all busy downstairs preparing for the barbeque party and they don’t want me to help. They just told me that I got to have some beauty sleep. Yah beauty sleep, but I think I just put more weight under my eyes.
“Hi grandma.” I hugged and kissed both her cheeks as I welcomed her; I missed my grandma. I haven’t seen her for about a month now. I hope she’ll stay even for a couple of days.
She is a very cool grandma; I can talk to her about anything. And she’s not very strict, my Mom and Dad are much even stricter than her, and you know what every time she visited she would ask me who I am dating at the moment.
“Is your mate coming?” See what I mean, now she’s looking for my mate.
“Grandma I still don’t know who my mate is.” I lead her to the sofa so that she can sit while we talk. “So how was the trip? Are you staying here?” She’d been staying at the next town which are populated by humans since grandpa died, telling us that she can’t stay here because of the memories of my grandpa. But sometimes she’d come and stay here for a week or so when Mom convinces her.
“Isn’t your mate Xander, that son of the late Alpha?” I immediately shook my head, where did she get that idea? Am I that obvious that I like Xander back then? “Really? I thought that he would really be your mate, I was never wrong at guessing whose mate’s whose.”
“I think your skill at guessing whose mate’s whose is fading grandma.” Or not. I’m sorry grandma I can’t tell you that he is really my mate. “Come on, grandma. Its 4pm soon; my friends are coming over, let’s go to my room and help me dress up.”
“So this one or this one?” I showed her the two dresses I bought at the mall yesterday, one was a simple V neck white dress with some laces that go down just above the knee, and the other one is a floral dress that goes below the knee but shows some of my back.
“That flowery one and just let your hair down. Xander will surely love that on you.” My eyes suddenly bulge in shock with what grandma said and she has that look of being in love on her eyes. What’s with her?
“He’s not my mate grandma and he’s not even coming, he’s with the Alpha traveling to the neighboring state.” She looked disappointed after I said that. Sorry, grandma. I think I’ll never have the happy ending you and grandpa had, I know it’s the only thing you want for all of your grandchildren.
