Chapter 25

“Who found her?” Xander asked Dad who was driving us to the pack house where they brought Maria.

“It was one of your friends, Macky, just outside of the pack’s territory.”

“Is she ok?” I asked, praying that Maria is fine, that there was no harm done to her.

“We’ll find out when we get there.”

Xander pulled me to his side caressing my shoulder while he continued asking Dad questions. He will really be a good Alpha someday.

We all hurriedly went out of the car as Dad parked it in front of the pack house and entered the house, where a couple of werewolves are in presence.

“Where is she?” I asked Nick who was standing near the door. He just tilted his body and motioned me to move forward. There she is curled at Macky’s lap at one of the sofa lounges.

“She’s his mate.” Calvin whispered to my ears he was standing near Nick. “We were just having a perimeter run when he suddenly wanted to go outside the territory and then we found her in her wolf form just lying at the ground unconscious.” Calvin answered my unspoken question.

I slowly walked to Macky and Maria’s side, even though Macky just found her it was shown already in his eyes how much he cared for my cousin. I roamed my eyes inside the room to find my mate, he was beside his Dad, the Alpha, and they were talking with lowered voices.

“Hey, how is she?” Macky looked up to me and smiled a little.

“She’s physically fine, no sign of anything, but emotionally I think not, she’s not talking.”

“Everything will be fine for sure, at least now she’s safe.” I tried to brush away strands of Maria’s hair that was covering her face but she automatically flinch on my touch.

“I’m gonna hunt down and kill those bastards!”Macky hissed as he tightened his hold to his mate.

“Macky, Maria’s room is ready.”Macky just nodded his head to Xander and carried Maria upstairs.

“Her parents are now on the way here.”Xander kissed me on my head before continuing. “Why don’t you go to my room and sleep, it’s late already.”

“What about you?”

“I still need to talk to Dad.” His face was masked, not revealing any emotions.

“Xander? Is everything ok?”

“Yes, love,” he hugged me closer to his body. “It’s just that there are many thoughts in my head right now.”

“You know that you can talk to me, right?” I looked at him straight in his eyes to show that I’m sincere. I don’t want him to carry all the burden.

“I know, but first you need to sleep. We have classes tomorrow.” I was about to disagree but he beat me into it, “I’ll feel much better if I know that you’re resting and not worrying. Maria is now safe and fine, that’s all you have to think, ok?”

“Ok” I half heartedly agreed, if that will make him feel better then I’ll do it.

“Come on. I’ll tuck you in bed, and before you know it I’ll be beside you later.” Xander sensing my hesitations coaxed me up the flight of stairs.
