Chapter 16

Ring…bzzzz….riiiing…bzzzzzz….riiiiiiiiiing

The constant buzzing and ringing of my phone woke me up. As I opened my eyes, the sun’s rays peaking from the window momentarily blinded me. Keeping my eyes shut, I tried to get up but something heavy in my stomach and legs was preventing me in doing just that.

I was confused at first but I felt my face heat up as I remembered that I was here at my mate’s room and the events from yesterday came flashing back.

The little picnic we had in one of the forest clearing not far from the pack house. Nothing can describe the feeling I felt at that moment, it was more than happiness, if there’s such a thing. It was our first date!

After eating the food Xander’s mother prepared for us, as he told me, we just lay there side by side at the picnic blanket talking about anything we can think of until the sun sets. As it was starting to get dark I thought we would be going back but then again my mate has full of surprises.

He got up from the blanket we were in and walked to the middle of the clearing where a bunch of dry woods and twigs are piled up, that I surprisingly didn’t notice earlier. He then get started a fire and I was all ‘oooh bonfire!’ Yah I know I’m so childish and girly, but come on the last time I had some bonfire on a clearing was I think when I was 10?

I thought the picnic and bonfire was the sweetest thing a man or were can do to his girl on their first date, but no, Xander just have to put out a small speaker, played a sweet music and asked me to dance. I didn’t know blushing all night long is possible but then again I proved that it is.

“Hello?” Xander’s sleepy-voice spoke, my phone on his ear. I think I forgot to answer my phone? I buried my face to my mate’s neck when he gave me a knowing smile, I was caught day dreaming, I guess.

“Xander? Where’s Sam?” I heard Max’ very familiar voice on the other line, remember wolf enhanced senses? “Give her the phone.” It was more than a command than a plea and Xander having an Alpha blood didn’t much like it and he being not a morning person didn’t help it either.

“No. What do you need from my mate?” I snatched the phone from my mate’s ear because I know he would just regret snapping at Max later on.

“Hey Max, why the early call?” I asked as I wrapped my free hand on his waist.

“Duh?! You promised us to have shopping time together.” Oh ghad! I forgot all about that. I looked at my mate shaking his head; I promised him last night that we will spend time together today. “Sam, are you still there?”

“Can we stay here instead?” I’m internally praying that my plan will be ok with Xander. “Hmm invite everyone? We can have a movie marathon.” Still I was answered by silence. “You can pick any movie you like.”

“Ok, I’ll be there in an hour.” And she ended the call without even saying goodbye. I heard my mate sighed beside me.

“I’m sorry, I know..I promised..”

“I’m not sighing for that.” Xander chuckled as he pulled me closer to his chest. “I just don’t like the idea that Max will be choosing the movie that we will watch.” After a few silent moments we both went groaning to ourselves, remembering the movie series that Max loves the most.

“Tell me again why are we watching these series when we are fucking werewolves?” Kate glared at Calvin after he said that. We are now here at the tv room of the pack house which is located at the third floor of the house. Max, Dean, Lana, Evie, Kate and Calvin are with us.
