Chapter 1

“Are you sure that you’re going to be alright, sweetheart?” Mom was giving me a worried look, like I’ll break down any minute.

“Yes Mom. School is only a five minute drive. I’ll call if something bad happens.” I tried to reassure Mom, making her understand that I was just so near. I know she was just worried, she has every right to. I’ve been like a trash for the last few days. “And my friends will be there, so there’s no need to worry.”

‘And our mate will not let anything happen to us.’

I hissed on my wolf, still getting a little startled whenever she’d talk inside my head.

‘We’ve talked about this last night so drop it, will you?’

‘Yah you talked and decided, but I never agreed.’ My wolf calmly answered back. But I will not let what happened yesterday midnight to happen again.

‘You are me so if I said no, it’s a no.’ My wolf growled in disapproval. Dismissing her, I looked back at my Mom and smiled at her.

After making sure that Mom believes I’m fine, I continued eating my favorite breakfast combo that she prepared for me. It was egg, bacon, some wheat bread and of course a glass of fresh milk.

“So why don’t you let me drive you to school?” I turned my head to see Dad leaning against the doorframe of our kitchen. I suppose that he’s been standing there for a while.

“I want to breathe some fresh air. I’ve been confined here in the house for a week, I do need some exercise.” Mom and Dad sighed in defeat, knowing that I’ve made up my mind on walking my way to school.

“Ok but do tell your friends that you will be having a barbeque party on Saturday to celebrate your birthday.”

“But Mom, I told you I don’t want to have a party.”

It was not that I don’t like to throw a party. It was actually the awaited moment of every werewolf to celebrate their eighteenth birthday, to celebrate their being a true blown were.

But it would also mean that I have the obligation of showing to all of them my wolf and I couldn’t take that risk, because for sure Xander will also be there.

“Not happening, young lady. I didn’t pursue your party yesterday because you were still too weak. And I’ve planned your party for like forever.”

Swallowing the last piece of my bacon, I just shrugged my shoulder in response. I really need to think of a good excuse to not have a party.

After gulping to half my glass of milk I went to my Mom’s side and kissed her cheek. “I have to go.” But for now I’ll first enjoy, not, my first day back to school.

“Samantha.” My Mom called in a warning tone.

“I’m gonna be late. Bye Dad.” I ran out of the house not wanting to hear any of my Mom’s rants.

The sun’s heat rays bathe my skin as I walked down the road to school. My strength was slowly getting back, after feeling weak for the whole week it was nice feeling some energy flowing through my system.

It was hell of a week for me. After running away from Xander’s party, I ended up in the middle of the dirt road still miles away from home. I just curled there beside a tree crying my heart out.

I couldn’t even remember how long I’ve stayed like that. I just remembered feeling my phone vibrate inside my bag and hearing my dad’s worried voice on the other line. I could not even remember what I told him, but I think I told him where I am because he came and pick me up in no time.
