Chapter 5
“Is there something going on between you and Macky?” I suddenly slum my locker shut as Max asked me that stupid question and gave her that are-you-joking look.
“Are you his mate?” Lana added as the two of them gave me accusing looks.
“No, why would you think that? We were all there when he shifted. I’d know there and then if he’s my mate.” I straightened my bag and started to march out of the school. It’s Wednesday, human training day, so we’re heading to the pack house, my mate’s house.
“He’s been picking you up from your house since yesterday.” Max said in a matter-of-fact way. The two of them now joined me walk outside our school to the parking lot where Lana’s car was parked. “We were waiting for you to tell us something, but you’re not.” She added in a sullen tone.
“’Cause there is really nothing to tell and he said he only picks me up ‘cause he wants to show off his new car.” At first I was also bothered why Macky picks me up; his house is only a block away from school. But as he explained that he has nothing to do with his new car and I’m the only who really needs a ride because Lana and Max is living just next door with each other and Evie is also just a block away from school and Kate of course is always with his mate Calvin, so I just shrugged and accepted the free ride.
He even asked me if I could ride with him to the pack house. I kindly declined because Lana, Max and I always went to the pack house together since we were kids and even after Max has known that her mate was Dean she still rides with us to the pack house.
“Ok fine, if you say so.” Lana said as we entered her car, but I know deep down they still think that there’s something going on between me and Macky. I just let them be. I don’t wanna argue with anyone today. After my shitty-but-ends-well Monday my days were back to normal. Well yeah, there’s still that pull for my mate Xander and it’s really getting harder to ignore.
This past two days was better ‘cause Sarah was not lurking around Xander and it makes my wolf calmer. Max said that they had a fight that Monday afternoon when I ran home. Well, they do always fight but they’d be back together soon as always. I just have to be ready when that time comes and restrain my wolf.
“You’re silent Sam.” I looked up and saw Max looking at me with questioning eyes.
“Just thinking about school works. It’s pilling up.” Wow. I’m getting good at lying and it’s giving me the creeps.
“True. Plus human and wolf training, I don’t even have time for shopping!” Maxine exclaimed in a funny exaggerating way and we all laugh our hearts out with that.
A few minutes later Lana parked her car at the front of the pack’s house. Several cars were there already, including Macky’s. Wednesday training is for our age group, 16-19, we start training within the age of 13, that’s human training. Wolf training is on Friday afternoons and sometimes there’s special wolf training during weekends.
As we entered the pack house, Mrs. Martin welcomed us as always, we then went to the bathroom to change to our training outfit, a razor back fitted white top and a semi fitted black training shorts.
Now all ready, we head our way to the house backyard where about fifty teenagers gathered, all ready to train. We went and join our friends in the crowd of teenagers.
“Ok listen up guys!” Nick, the alpha’s oldest son and next in line alpha, shouted for everyone to hear. For us who has shifted already we can hear it loud and clear, the shouting is for those who still haven’t shifted.
“Today’s training is by partners, you can choose anyone you like.” The crowd burst out with noise, someone calling someone to be their partners. “Except, of course, your mate.” A few growls were heard around the backyard and two came from behind me where Dean, Max, Kate and Calvin were standing.
