Chapter 9
“What can I say? You grasp everything that I taught you.” Dad and I were walking back inside the house from our backyard; we just finished my weekly wolf training.
“I have the best teacher and my father is the strongest fighter of our pack.” I dismissively said but I know my eyes gave it all away. It’s been a month since my Dad started to train my wolf and I’m proud to say that I really learned a lot of things from him.
“Ha ha ha. You do know how to boost your old man’s ego.” Dad ruffled my hair as he said that. “You are really getting good. Maybe you can sometimes join the pack’s wolf training and let see how you’d do fighting those wolves your age.” I know all the glint of mischief from my eyes was gone instantly as my Dad said that.
“Isn’t it still too early for that? I mean, I think I need to train more before I show them whose daughter I am.” Come on Dad please buy my stupid excuse, I can’t train with everyone, Xander will be there. We are now inside the kitchen where Mom’s cooking lunch for us.
“Oh you’re finished already. You two, take a bath first before I serve lunch.” Mom waved her hand motioning us to go upstairs and clean ourselves. Dad and I then continued to walk to the living room.
“I know you won’t let me down, Sam.” I slump down on one of the chairs in our living room. “And there’s nothing wrong on being defeated from time to time, you just need to get up and try again next time.” I’m not afraid that I’ll lose in a fight; I mean its normal to lose, I’m only human, hmm ok, half. I’m afraid that Xander will see my wolf and know my secret. I’m still afraid that my mate will just reject me.
“I’m just not yet ready; I’m comfortable that you’re the one training me.” Dad just looked at me and sighed.
“Ok you win, but one day I need to see if what we’re doing is really paying off, you need to fight someone your level.”
“Yes Dad, thank you.” I abruptly stood up and hugged him. “I think I’ll take a bath now before Mom started screaming.”
“I heard that Samantha!” Oh I forgot, werewolf senses, I’m dead! I looked at Dad for help but he just chuckled and went upstairs to their room. I then run inside my room before Mom can walk out from the kitchen and scold me.
Yes, a month has passed but still nothing has changed. Still, Xander doesn’t have the slightest idea that I’m his mate, which is really a good thing. Actually, these past weeks have been rather easy for me to hide the fact that he is my mate.
Xander’s been detached not just from me but also from all our friends, he doesn’t hang out with us after our class ends like before, he always go straight home. They say that it was because of his training. He was really working not twice but thrice as hard as a normal werewolf on training, while still maintaining his status as one of the brightest students at our school.
I wanted to ask him if why he pushes himself to his edge. One time last week I ask him on how he was and how his training was, he answered me that he was fine and training is really hard but he was enjoying it. I wanted to ask more but before I can even formulate a question Macky came and drag me away from my mate.
I wanted to tell him to go to hell but I don’t want Xander to question my actions so I just let Macky take me away.
And yeah about Macky? He’s still hoping that one day I’ll gladly accept him to be my boyfriend. I actually turned him down several times already, but he just told me that until I don’t have a mate he will court me.
