Elijah and I had been in his car for a bit now, I could tell we were heading back into town. Although, I had no idea where we were going. Maybe Niklaus had decided to have me taken into a deserted area and kill me once and for all. He knows I'll just come right back anyway. But no. I know he wouldn't actually do that.
"Here, read this. We're almost there." Elijah says, pulling another note from his suit jacket. I took it and opened it.
There are so many reasons to love you. Can you see it yet? The love we all have for you? How many times now has Elijah looked at you randomly and just smiled? Go ahead look, I bet he is now-
I looked over at Elijah and Nik was right. He looked away quickly, smiling at the road now.
Told you. We all love you so much and yet no one has even thought to say the words. But you know, words are only just that. Words. I could tell you anything in words and it would mean nothing. Empty verbal promises. Words are the worse. They hurt the ones you love because you can't control how they come out.
I hurt you. I would a vow of silence if it would mean you would forgive me. But I don't believe that would be something you would enjoy. Admit it, you enjoy my voice. I enjoy yours. It's smooth and silky like caramel. I don't want to live without hearing your voice. I don't think I could.
Now, don't be mad. Since you've been away from your original home, I've been having it fixed up. The original company your insurance company hired was awful. I honestly believe they didn't even know how to wipe their own asses. Anyways, I had gone there to try and restore what was in the kitchen fire. They had collected a box of things. But in that box was one thing you never mentioned to us.
The reason why you love to bake.
Your mother. She was beautiful. Just like you are today. She taught you everything you know about baking. From the simple task of measuring to the turning something bitter into some extraordinarily sweet. Even in your first lifetime. Why none of us had even thought to ask about your mother is beyond me. I feel stupid for not asking.
She would be so proud of who you are today, you know? How strong, you have become. How kind hearted and sweet you can be. I bet she was as stubborn as you are.
I wish I could have met your mom, even your dad.
But, now's not the time for wishes. If I went into that we'd be here all day about my wish to take back everything I did to you. We don't have time for that. Now, please. Do not Gouge my eyes out or slap me.
Look up.
I wiped the tears from my face, looking up slowly to see we were parked in front of a little strip area. A bakery sat in the center, small yet quaint.
Francesca's Sweet Sanctuary
My hand went to my mouth as I read it. A small breathy laugh leaving my lips at my full name on the sign.
Your mother chose your name, love. I always thought you were named after your father. But you were named by your mother. Why did you shorten it to Frankie? Maybe from running from the pain of losing your mother repeatedly. Or possibly just because it's a really long name. But whether you choose to go by Frankie or Francesca. Your mothers chosen name will always be here for you. At your Sanctuary.
I bit my lip, shaking my head as I tried to calm my tears. I didn't know whether to be upset he went through my things or happy he did. I got out of the car, running up to the bakery as I looked inside through the window. It was completely decorated. Displays for cakes, tarts and pies. A register to take future orders. It was girly, but not too girly. Elijah came up behind me, holding the key to me. I waisted no time in taking it and unlocking the door. Noticing when Elijah stayed outside.
"Aren't you coming?" I asked him, confused. He shook his head. "Is he here?" He only smiled and walked away, leaving me to explore. I walked up to the glass display, hovering my hand over it as I walked by, seeing a small note on the register.
Come to the kitchen. There is one more surprise for you.
I looked up at the door that led to the kitchen, opening it and looking around. There was no one there. To say I was confused is an understatement.
A tap at the back door though pulled my eyes over. Niklaus stood outside the door, waving. I walked over to the door, opening it.
"Why are you outside?" The confusion was evident in my voice. Nik smiled and licked his teeth.
"You need to invite in any vampires. This is truly your sanctuary.." He trailed off. I stared at him, shock and touched. Leaping out the door and into his arms, I hugged him tightly.
"Thank you." I whispered, squeezing him to me. Nik wrapped his arms around me, holding me just as tightly to him. The tingles of warmth running through us as we pulled back and smiled at each other.
"I love you, Francesca Kernly." Nik said, leaning his forehead to mine. "If I could, I would give you the stars. Anything to make that smile stay permanently on that beautiful face." I blushed, smiling as I leaned up, pressing my lips to his.
"I love you too, Niklaus Mikaelson. Now please, come in." I told him as I released him.
"Are you sure?" I nodded, waiting for him to come in. He stepped in slowly, grinning as he did.
"Now what was with the grocery trip?" I asked, raising my eyebrow at him. He shook his head, walking around me to the front, not leaving me for a more than a minute as he came back with the grocery bags.
"We're baking a cake. You and I."
"What if I hadn't invited you in?" I asked him, watching as he pulled everything out and put away what ever we didn't need.
"Then it would be you baking a cake, and I would have watched from the door." He laughed. I shook my head laughing at him.
"You just want to see me put the cake in the oven." I accused him. He only looked up with a smirk.
"And is that a crime?"
