Monday mornings are always less interesting and this one is specifically making me more nervous . I have to present my proposal today at the orphanage before the board. Elphiang orphanage is currently running out of resources ever since one of the major share holders withdrew. Now the orphanage will soon face a hunger crisis if nothing is done about it. When I heard this, my heart melted for these little children that will soon live on a single meal per day. Being a mother that day I went home very disturbed and decided to try to find a permanent solution. The board was suggesting a fund raising around the town, but then what if we don't get to raise the money we need ,it wont be a permanent solution. Everytime we're in a crisis the orphanage can't be in fundraising all the time. If there's one thing the rich people hate, it is the beggars. Today after lunch there will be a staff meeting on how to conduct the fund raising but what if they listened to my proposal. It would not only provide a permanent solution to the orphanage but it will also be a source of income to them.
I ask Rachel, an acquaintance of mine in my course to later lend me her Environmental Ethics notes in the evening and when she agrees, my anxiety reduces by half cause at least I know I won't completely miss my last lecture today.
Having finished my early classes and already running late I quickly push my laptop and files into my bag and rush to the road to grab a cab. As am about to stop one, I remember the Friday incident so I pause. Should I call Leah. Oooooh God! I don't know where she could be today and am in wedges so I can't walk up to the orphanage. As am still trying to figure out how to get to the orphanage, a familiar car stops next to me.
"Trevis!! hello where a you headed " I say happy to see him.
"Am roaming around town, I see your trying to get your self get robbed once again by stopping a cab" he teases.
"Actually I would have walked to my destination but my shoes wouldn't allow. So am currently at crossroads." I say to him.
"So why not hop in and I drop you to where ever your headed to." he motions to go with him. My conscious is telling me it's not right but I ignore it and enter the car. He's a far better option, I give him the directions of Elphiang orphanage and open my laptop and go through my proposal to make sure it's error free. I really hope the board considers my opinion and we be able to save the children and the orphanage. It's now fifteen minutes since we started the ride and getting to Elphiang is roughly eight to ten minutes from the main gate of the campus. I look up from the laptop to see what's causing the jam at the moment. I turn to Trevis to ask him what's going on but he quickly sprays something on my face. It has a suffocating effect when it reaches my nostrils, before I have a chance to react, my eyes feel heavy, everything around me is rotating and spinning. Shortly whatever he has sprayed on me takes effect and I drift off to into a deep slumber, The last thing I saw was the face mask Travis was putting on. I feel his car increasing the speed. "Christa....." I manage to murmur.
Ray's POV
I see Azra leaving in a hurry, so I run after her in an attempt to convince her to go out to lunch with me. She's dressed to kill today in her dark blue body hugging dress, Red coat that matches the stripes in her handbag and black silvered wedges. She's moving at a lightning speed heading to the main gate so I run to my car and be able to catch up with her. I can see her at the gate but then a black Mercedes Benz gets to her before I can. She's happily chatting with the driver so I pack behind hoping I she can decline his ride. To my dismay, she agrees and drives off with the guy in the car. I drive closer to catch a glimpse of her boyfriend but I only manage to see the side view of a black guy in the Benz. I curse furiously for being late. I really wanted to take this belle out to lunch or at least get to compliment on how smartly dressed she is today. My anger slowly subdues when I remember we have the last class together. I convince myself that I will see her in Environmental ethics and go grab a solo lunch.
Sadly Azra isn't anywhere in the lecture today, I try to scan the class once again but she's no where to be seen. I run to the red haired girl in the corner whose busy scribbling illustrating diagrams in her book.
"Hey, I saw you earlier in the morning chatting with Azra, could you be knowing about her whereabouts." I ask her
"Ummm ,hey Ray. Yeah Az mentioned that she will be somewhere urgent and was asking if she could borrow my notes later in the evening." the red haired girl answers back.
"Alright then, it was helpful talking to you miss.... "
"Rachel, my name is Rachel" I thank her and head out feeling pissed. So her boyfriend is urgent enough to make her miss classes. I clench my fists in anger as I leave class.
