"Yaaaa that girl is really starting to get spooky , at school every where I turn, she's always there . Even at the restaurant with Ray's mum. She was there too!" I explain to Leah the situation with Jenna,  "She just wants to catch you in wrong but I pity her cause I know my baby well" Ray taps on my thigh comforting me. "I agree with Ray Az, just let her be. She will eventually get tired and chill you" she continues to comb Christa's hair. Christa adores her god mother as much as she loves her granny. She feels so comfortable and relaxed with on her lap.
"what if she's plotting revenge or something. You all know Trevis was her boyfriend!" I express my concern to Ray and Leah."That should be the last of your worries dear" Ray says. "Ever since Kevin found out that Jenna was using him as bait to get to you, he's now using her to protect you. Don't you worry for a second cause we have her under full surveillance." Ray continues to assure me that am safe but can't help it. Like we had earlier agreed, we spent the Saturday with Leah, tomorrow it will be at Ray's home. " how did dinner with Ray's mum go?" Leah inquiries. "That day things didn't go well for me,"Leah also admits.
"The dinner started off bitter but it ended well so no bad blood between me and her, but what's wrong with you,  you really don't look too well?" I worry for my bestie. she's always the strong one. "it's just thatt..." she stammers. " I can leave you guys to talk and pick you up later sweetie" Ray too notices the hesitation in Leah's voice. "It's fine Ray, Please stay. I I could use some advice from you.  Am in a bit of a familiar situation" Leah starts.  Her face is pale and weary. Something strong must be really eating her up. She's using Christa's hair as a distraction, combing it un endlessly.
"Austin has a four year old daughter" Leah drops the bombshell. "No way?!!" I say in unison with Ray startling poor Christa a bit. Turns out it was a one night stand he had with some black girl at a party. The black girl finally managed to track her down all these years and brought the kid to him." she exhales some of the anger she's feeling. "When did all this happen? Where's the girl now and the mother?" I ask her all the questions at once.
"He equally found out this week. Chick showed up in his office claiming that the girl escorting her was Austin's daughter. He obviously didn't believe her when the girl reminded him of the night at a friends party like 5 years back . Sadly the DNA test proved him wrong and now he has a daughter." Leah continues to narrate the encounter. "So now what happens? Does Ray want to stay with her baby mama?" I move next to her and try to soothe her. "No, that's not the case, actually Chloe's mother is getting married soon and her husband doesn't want that illegitimate child so that's why she had to bring her to the father." Leah explains the situation before hand.
My lips form an O with more shock. Ray can't believe what's happening too. He's simply following the story unfold. "So where's Austin and Chloe at the moment? " Ray manages to ask. "That's the part I feel guilty about, I don't know what I was thinking . Ray came back with the child and when he told me that the child was his I got furious. He tried to explain what happened but I didn't want to admit anything so I kicked both of them out." Leah is holding her head in between her hands in frustration. "I ddidn't know what to do, you guys handled the situation so well!"
"Ssssshhhh, don't start now. The only reason we were able to handle everything well was because we had you besides us. " I hold her hand tightly . She usually does that to me and it calms me down. "The situation may not be the same as ours but you have us"i remind her that were always there for her. "Okay! So don't you begin sulking on me". Leah nods her head fighting the tears starting to form.Christa keeps on looking from between me and Leah not sure what's going on.
"In relationships were all bound to make mistakes Leah" Ray starts."The only thing that can try to keep us together is our ability to forgive and always look for the best in each other." I excuse myself to change Christa's diaper. She has a tendency to shift uncomfortably when her diaper is soiled. "But this is too much, Ray I have no clue on how to go about it" I over hear Leah urging to express her pain.
"I understand Leah, and am not saying what he did can be justified but try to put yourself in his shoes. If it was you explaining that you have a child you didn't know about. How would you want him to react?" I smile at myself loving the way Ray is handling this. "I don't know, I think he ought to give me a hearing. Arrrgh it's all a mess" I hear Leah complain on my way back. "I think you guys need to talk this out. Do what you do best and see how best you guys can try to live with this." I pinch in.
"You guys are right, I probably need to call Austin and apologize for my misconduct. "Meanwhile as soon as am done cleaning my face, I will make you guys a rainbow cake. I can't risk Christa for labeling me as the worst godmother ever." I sigh a relieve when I see Leah back to her normal self. "Let me go go get the mixers and ingredients ready as you wind up with the call.
"Are things abit better now? " I ask Leah when she gets back from the call. Ray has been humming a lullaby to Christa and she seems asleep by now. "Yaaaa, Austin has been at his parents house but he will come over and we talk." Leah assures me. Thanks for being here guys I really appreciate your piece of advice." she comes and hugs me. "hey, don't hug without me. I too contributed" Ray complains as he joins us in the hug.
Having successfully put the double dough in the oven, we dust off the flour were covered in and continue with mixing the icing. We agreed to make too cakes. One specifically for Austin as an apology and the other for Christa and every other happiness were experiencing.
