The surprise of finding a wounded child lost in the woods really threw these men off course. The long walk back was exhausting but you all made it back to a nice and large log cabin by a lake. It was lit up like a beacon and there was a small trailer by the lake as well. "Ok, here we are". They had introduced themselves already. Gavin opened the door and you all entered inside and you saw a bunch of animals. Well, dead animals. There were deer heads on the wall, animal rugs, fishing trophies and a couple of small taxidermy animals. One was a large bear on its hind legs, mouth opened showing its teeth and claws outstretched.

It made you feel uneasy and you shuffled behind James. "Don't worry about that old thing-"

"Old thing" Alex asked offended. "I killed that bastard with only a razor blade".

"Yes yes, we heard the story a million times" Gavin said putting his bag aside.

"But she hasn't"!

"It's not important right now" James said trying to end the conversation but Alex wouldn't let up. "Not important"! James just sighed and took you up under your arms and sat you down on the island to get more medical supplies. "It's the best hunting story ever"!

"Whatever. Now, can we focus on the more important problem here" James said. He had placed down hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls and some gauze bandages for your other wounds but the wound on your arm was opened and needed to be cleaned but it also sadly needed to be stitched. James was examining your arm and sighed. "I'm not gonna lie to you, it's not good. Gavin"?

"It'll need some sutures if its to stay closed" Gavin said sadly.

"Alright. Alex, start up the truck. We'll have to drive back to the city"-

"We can't" Alex said, "The roads are still blocked and it would take forever to get back". They were silent for a moment and you didn't know what was happening. James sighed but then looked to Gavin. "Gavin, we have no choice".

"I know. I'm not thrilled about it either but we don't have a choice". James looked at you and tried to explain what the plan was now. "We can't get you to a hospital and you need help. Gavin's a part time medical student and he'll have to do the stitches".

"Ok. Alex, go get the Liodocaine, the stitches, a needle and bandages".

"What"?

"Oh my god" Gavin sighed annoyingly, "Just go get my case from the basement". Alex nodded and retreated to the basement. "What's the matter with him" Gavin asked James in an annoyed tone.

"I don't know. But while were waiting, go get a glass of water for her". Gavin didn't need to be told twice and did what he was aksed to do. Gavin came back over and handed it to you. As you finished it, Alex came back with a much larger metal case. "Jesus, what the hell is in this thing" Alex breathed out exhausted and putting the case on the island.

"Medical supplies" Gavin said plainly.

"What about the first aid kit we just had"?

"That kit is only for simple fixes, this isn't a simple fix". Gavin took out all of the necessary supplies he needed and told Alex to go get a towel. "Oh sure" Alex said sarcastically, "After taking that heavy ass thing up a flight of stairs, I'll go up another flight of stairs, just for you". Alex then left to do what he needed and Gavin just tried to ignore him. "Ok, (Y/n)" James said, "What we're gonna have to do is stitches. You do know what those are right"? You shook your head. "Well, we're gonna sew your arm back up so it won't reopen again. Gavin's gonna make it numb for you and you won't feel a thing. After this is done, I'll get you some food".

"Maybe you outta take her to a buffet. I mean Jesus, she's more skin and bone than flesh" Alex said as he came back down the stairs with a towel. "Anyways, here". Everything was laid out and Gavin went over to the sink to wash his hands. "Ok, (y/n). Don't be scared. This will be over in just a minute". You started to get nervous as Gavin returned and took out a syringe and the anesthetic. You saw the needle and tried to slide off the island but James stopped you and started to calm you. "No no no no no, you need to stay put. I know it looks scary but it'll help you".

You turned away from it and then felt Gavin gently take your arm. "Just look at me, (y/n)" James said. You looked at him and he kept you talking until you felt a sharp prick in your arm. You quickly spun your head around and saw Gavin gently taking the needle out of your arm but James made you look at him once again. "Don't look. Just focus on me. Here, tell me about your friend, Dimitri".

You wanted to tell him and the others all about Dimitri but knew they would think your crazy. Why would they believe a young child to have a snake monster as a caregiver? "He's my friend" is all you managed to say. James tried asking more questions but you couldn't come up with anything to respond with that would sound convincing. Gavin was finishing up the stitches and since you wouldn't respond with most of the questions that you were given, James told you a bit about themselves.

"Well, this cabin belongs to Alex. He's a hunter and a bit of a hot head with a temper too".

"Hey"!

"Gavin here is our tech guy. He's a part time medical student and an M.I.T graduate. So, he's a bit of a brainiac".

"Guilty as charged".

"As for me" James said trying to find an answer. "I'm not what you would call a social butterfly. I'm not really an interesting person".

"Are they your friends"?

"Basically" James said, "We're out here on a special mission".

"Mission"?

"Were here to hunt a monster" Alex said.

"I know it may sound silly but that's what were doing" James said as he now started to clean your other wounds. "Monster"? James hesitated to answer and only managed to say, "Don't worry about it-"

"It's complicated" Gavin said as he finally finished the stitches and started to wrap your arm up tightly with bandages. You didn't want to ask any more questions since you could feel how awkward the room felt. "Alrighty. Your good to go" James said as he put the last bandaid on you. "Now, I bet your starving, huh"?

"The local town doesn't have a buffet sadly-"

"Anyways" James said cutting Alex off, "I'll cook you something and Alex here, will make up a bed for you on the couch". Alex sighed but went ahead to get pillows and blankets for you. Gavin was packing up his medical stuff while also instructing James on what to do with your stitches and James put you down you floor. While they were talking, you went ahead and sat down by the lit fireplace and saw another bear but it was a rug. Alex had returned and saw you inspecting the rug and said, "Aah, now this one, I killed with my father".

"Why"?

"Me and him are grade A hunters" he said proudly. "I learned everything I know from him". Alex was beaming with pride but he reeled himself back to reality to lay out the blankets and pillows on the couch for you. You didnt pay him much mind and went back to staring into the fire. The fire reminded you of Dimitri's cave and Dimitri in general. Warm but empty. You missed him but you didn't know what to do. These people were nice and caring but so was Dimitri. But there was one question on your mind.

What monster?
