As fast as the speed limit was, Alex was driving like a maniac down the highway, following Gavins instructions. "Turn right"! Alex quickly turned the truck down another road. "Stop yelling at me, you physco"!
"Who're you calling a physco, you physco" Gavin yelled back in the front seat. You and James were seated in the back with James holding onto the handle above his side door and you holding his arm. "Your the one driving like a maniac! Why doesn't your truck have a GPS on it"!
"This was my dad's truck, it's old but still works. Just shut up"!
"Both of you, shut up" James yelled. "Just get there and try not to kill us". Alex sighed and continued driving down the highway until he took another turn down a small road to a security gate. There was a man in the booth and waved for the truck to slow down. When the truck pulled up, the man spoke. "I.D please. Oh! Gavin! Where have you been"?
"I've been busy".
"Oh, ok. Go ahead in, Mr. Harrison would want to speak to you". The man pushed a button and allowed the truck to drive in and it was a massive white laboratory building with many cars in the parking lot. "Where in the fuck am I supposed to park"?
"Will you stop cussing, please" Gavin said annoyed. "Just park in my parking spot, in the front of the building". Alex drove to the front and found a parking spot with Gavins name on it. "Seriously? You have your own parking space? What exactly do you do" Alex asked as everyone got out of the car.
"I'm the project director for this whole case" Gavin said proudly. James held your hand and you all went inside through the lobby. There was a nice seating area on both sides as well as fountain walls with nice flowers and a lot of security cameras. There were some people in professional clothing and some in lab coats as well. Everything was so clean and pristine and you and Alex looked way out of place. Alex was wearing his usual camo and was also wearing an old baseball cap with dirty jeans. You were given new clothes, clean jeans and an orange shirt with a sun on it. James was just dressed casually.
You all walked past the desk but were stopped by the two security guards. "No children are allowed".
"Oh, she's with me" Gavin said.
"Doesn't matter, Gavin" replied the security guard. "No children are allowed in the labs".
"Oh, come on, Jordan. She won't do anything-"
"I'm sorry, Gavin. But that's one of the rules". Gavin sighed and turned to face you all. "Alright, well, I'll go back and figure out what's going on. You three just stay in the lobby until I come back".
"Don't take forever" Alex said. Gavin rolled his eyes and scanned his badge and went through the small security gate while the three of you went to the seating area to wait for Gavin. Gavin walked through the walls and received many greetings from his fellow co-workers and finally made it to main lab. It was a huge lab with a huge glass dome and inside was a distressed looking Dimitri along with various objects for him to interact with. Gavin went towards the glass and could see that Dimitri looked so upset. He knew Dimitri wouldn't be able to see him because the glass was two way glass. "Look who decided to show up for his job". Gavin looked over and saw his boss, Mr. Harrison, looking really displeased with him. "Mr. Harrison" Gavin greeted.
"Gavin. I would just like to go ahead and get to my question. Why haven't you been keeping in touch with us"?
"Sir, there is a lot going on right now. I'm aware of the video but I have a more massive problem at hand here-"
"NOTHING" Mr. Harrison abruptly yelled, "IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR JOB! Do you have any idea how important this whole operation is? What's worse is that you find this new species and didn't bother to call it in"!
"What"?
"Oh, come now, Gavin" Mr. Harrison said, "Did you honestly believe that we wouldn't have scanned that video and not see you and those other men. And especially that mysterious child. Do you know who she is"? Gavin knew he had to be honest but couldn't bring himself to answer truthfully out of fear that it would bring you more harm. "You do know, don't you? Well, when your ready to commit to our operations and get back to your highly paid job... Your access is denied. Security, please escort Gavin Miles to the entrance".
Gavin was shocked at what he was hearing. He was losing his only access to Dimitri and wouldn't be able to monitor him any longer. It didn't take long for two security guards to come out and escort Gavin away. As Gavin came back and saw you with James and Alex, they stood and you all followed him outside. "What happened" James asked.
"They denied me my access. They scanned that video and now know we kept him a secret. They saw (Y/n) too".
"What're we gonna do now" Alex asked.
"We steal him back" Gavin said quietly.
