(6) Being discovered

His heart beating so fast and his breathe becoming quick and short, Dimitri slithered all throughout the forest looking for you. He was so afraid of what has happened to you and felt so guilty. What has happened to his child!? He called out to you many times and didn't care if it caught any hikers or campers attention. He just wanted his poor little child back home. He tore apart his whole cave and was on the verge of tears as he started to frantically search through the whole forest.

He couldn't take the pain. His tears pouring from his eyes and his poor heart beating a million miles per hour made him feel like he would die unless he found you again. As he collapsed down onto the ground by a tree sobbing, he happened to look at the ground to see human child footprints and hiking boots trails. His hope was sparked as he knew it had to have been your footprints. He didn't waste another second as he quickly followed them until it led him to a log cabin with a trailer nearby the lake.

The lights were out but as he slithered up to a window, he could see that the fireplace was lit. He also noticed the dead animals inside which only upset him a little but he was more focused on finding you. He went to another window by the fireplace and he felt so relieved to see you all curled up on the couch sleeping peacefully. All he has to do is get inside and save you. He didn't know how to open a window but since he saw you, he gently tapped on the window. After a couple of taps, he saw you stir and sit up on the couch.

He tapped the window and you were immediately alerted and looked to see Dimitri at the window. You smiled and ran at the window. You tried to open the window but it was locked so you ran to the door and unlocked it and as soon as it was opened, Dimitri was there and scooped you up to hug you so tightly. He started to cry tears of joy and kissed your forehead multiple times. "Oh, my poor child! I'm so sorry I lost you! I'm so sorry"! He had you look at him. "Are you alright"!?

"I'm ok". He smiled and embraced you tightly once again. "I sure hope so" he said quietly as he started to pet your hair. "Come, lets get you back home-"

"Put her down you fucking freak"!

Both you and Dimitri looked up to see Alex with a shotgun aiming it at Dimitri. Both James and Gavin were right behind him. "NO! STOP! HE'S MY FRIEND"!

"Don't worry, (Y/n)" James said soothingly, "You'll be ok".

"STOP IT"!

"You understand English? I said put her down, now" Alex said menacingly as he cocked his gun. Dimitri was getting nervous and gently put you down. "Come here, (Y/n)" James said gently as he got down on his knee. "No"! You gently took a hold of Dimitris hand and Dimitri only placed his other hand on your head.

"Enough of this"! Alex fired his gun and he only managed to graze Dimitri in the shoulder. You screamed and Dimitri fell backwards. The three men dashed towards him and he looked to you so sadly and heard the familiar sound of Alex's gun and knew he had to get out of there. Dimitri quickly slithered to the lake and dived in with more shots being fired at him. James scooped you up and took you away from all the commotion by taking you to bis bedroom. You were sobbing and screaming and punching his shoulder to be put down but that didn't concern him. Once he got there he turned on the light and start to calm you down.

"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! It's ok, calm down. Everything's ok-"

"Alex hurt him"!

"He could've hurt you (y/n)! Did he hurt you"?

"No! I want Dimitri"!

"He could've killed you! Were trying to protect you, (y/n). He's a monster".

"No"! You started breaking down crying and James held you close to him. He could feel you clutching his shirt tightly and could feel the tears staining his shirt. It took awhile but James was successful in calming you down. Alex and Gavin came upstairs and saw that you were still crying and said that the monster escaped, much to the disappointment of Alex. "What did he want with her" Alex asked.

"Why did you hurt my friend"!?

"That's no friend, (y/n)" Alex said, "That's a monster. A monster that would've eaten you probably".

"No"!

"Monsters don't take care of the weak. They do the opposite. Listen kid" Alex walked towards you and James and got down to your eye level. "That thing is a monster. Whatever he did to you could've killed you".

"No, he won't"!

Alex sighed and stood up. "Ok" he said, "Then tell us how he actually took care of you. Go on".

"He gave me food, helped my arm. Dimitri never hurted me-"

"Hold on" Gavin said cutting you off, "That was Dimitri"!

"Yeah".

They were blown away but Gavin started to overwhelm you with questions you couldn't answer. "Alright Gavin, stop. She's been through enough". Gavin backed off and Alex left to go back to bed but Gavin said he would keep watch on the security cameras in case he came back. James didn't want to leave you alone in the living room so he said you could crash in his bed while he slept in the arm chair by the bed. You were still very upset by what happened and James could see it in your eyes. You needed that warm embrace and tender hold.

James just motioned for you to come over and you got out of the bed and went over to him for him to pick you up and have you relax in his arms. He took the blanket off the back of the chair and draped it over you and him and he could see that you started to relax and snuggle up to him. He couldn't help but smile and lean back into the chair. He held onto you tightly and started to fall asleep.

James was definitely the more paternal one in the trio and he wasn't afraid to show it. As he fell asleep, he knew that he would do anything to keep you safe and would take that promise to the grave.
