I opened my eyes to a black space. It was so dark. I couldn't tell if I was floating or standing on the ground. I stomped my foot to see if I was standing, and in response I heard my foot slam against the ground.

I sighed in relief at the fact that I wasn't flying. I had a little fear of flying, but I was at least glad it wasn't something that would trigger my Y/P (Your Phobia). I swung my arms around trying to feel if there was anything I could make contact with in this pitch black area.

I didn't hit anything.

I started to panic a little bit. I needed to find something to light the area up. I started walking forward, with my hands in front of me so I could feel for things. I continued to walk until I crashed into something soft.

I looked around in front of me with wide eyes, until I looked up. A single cyan glow was present, and a wide grin that was being illuminated.

As soon as I relaxed seeing it was Nightmare, his expression completely changed.

"What a surprise. I had decided to enter a random dream to ruin it. But now that I see its yours, I'll spare you." Nightmare's grin lessened a bit, but was still present as a genuine one. I made a 'phew' sound and Nightmare responded with a 'heh'. The room started to brighten until I could completely see where I was. I was in some kind of office.

It looked familiar, too familiar. Until I realized whos office it was.

My fathers.

I had only ever been in his office once, to grab some scissors for him. He never trusted anyone in his office, and because of this, any time I tried to enter, I would be yelled at for it. I had developed a small fear for the room once I heard yelling and sounds of struggle coming from the room.

I blinked back into reality and Nightmare had turned away from me, examining the room.

"What does someone's office have to do with a fear of yours?" He spun around to face me, with a confused expression. His grin had disappeared.

"I would of expected you to know. After all, you can cause nightmares." I spoke in a bit of a joking tone, clearly trying to hint that I was only messing with him.

"You're right, I can only cause them. I can't control them entirely. Therefore the nightmare turns your fears into a reality here." Nightmare placed his hands in his pockets examining the room some more. A bookshelf had caught his eye.

He started walking over to the shelf, and so did I. I had never got to read what was on the shelf. He looked out of the corner of his eye socket to stare at me as I made my way beside him to examine the shelf. I latched onto a completely random book on the shelf, while Nightmare grabbed the very top left one with a tendril, since it wasn't reachable.

I father was a tall man, so it was understandable that it was so high up. Considering he was the only person in the house able to reach the top shelf, it would make sense that he hid all of his most important and secretive books on the top.

I let go of my book and let it make its place back into the bookshelf. I hovered over Nightmare a bit while he skimmed through the pages in the book.

It was a book about monsters.

And it was written by my father.

Nightmare motioned for me to follow him, so I did. We sat down in a sofa chair, since that was the biggest chair in the room. While the seat wasn't bit enough for the two of us, we made it work.

Our shoulders were touch, and so were our sides.

Nightmare placed the book in between us. The cover showed the iconic depiction of a human, and the iconic depiction of a monster. The title read "Monsters: The Undergrounds".
