Nightmare's POV:

They looked so peaceful sleeping. It was hard to keep my gaze off of them before they even fell asleep. Their chest rose and fell with every breath that they took. I shifted to block the wind of their body. I didn't want them to get too cold out here.

I turned my gaze back up to the stars above. They were barely visible thanks to the clouds, but they were beautiful none the less. Now I understand why Error loved the stars so much.

They were breath taking. I couldn't pull my eyelight off of them. I was having a constant battle with myself to look over at Y/N, or to stay glued to the stars. I so badly wanted to look over at Y/N and make sure they were still peacefully sleeping, but the stars wouldn't allow to do so. I eventually gave into myself and turned my gaze back to them.

They seemed to have moved ever so slightly. It could have just been their doing or they were slipping off the roof, which was likely. I lifted them up with a tentacle and leaned them against me. I kept my tentacle around them and close to me.

Why? So I could make sure they didn't fall and that they were still there. I wasn't quite sure why I had chosen to move them against me. They felt warm next to me considering how cold it was out here. I didn't produce much body heat, but if I could help even a little bit.

Y/N leaned more into me startling me. I jumped a bit at their small movement. I quickly relaxed considering it was just them. I exhaled and looked over at them. The first thing I hadn't felt in a while overcame me.

Guilt.

Everything that I had done to them physically in the past started to haunt me. Who knew I could ever feel guilt. I furrowed my brows at the past memories. Physically injuring them, ignoring them, and treating them as a useless animal.

I quickly pushed the thoughts away as Y/N started to tremble next to me. I gazed over at their small body which was curled against me. I placed my hand on top of their head to try and calm the shaking. As soon as I did, they seemed to calm down.

That was a first.

Usually whenever I had my presence extremely close to someone, they'd start to tremble worse, and out of fear because of my aura. I stared at Y/N a little wide eyed. They somehow found comfort in my negative aura. Or it could have just been me as a person. Either way, I didn't care. Having someone who wasn't put off my aura or character was somewhat nice.

Though at the same time, if Y/N had trembled in fear, I would've fed off the negativity. I hated seeing Y/N in fear as much as I hated positivity. Though that wouldn't stop me from using their fears if they were put off by me in circumstance. Don't get me wrong, I'd never intentionally inflict fear upon Y/N.

Y/N groaned and slid off of my body. They were now back to laying on the roof. Their h/l (Hair length) strands of h/c (hair color) hair were spread out on the dirty rooftop. It had noticeably gotten colder out since the two of us came out here. I didn't shiver, though I could see Y/N shivering at the moment. I scooped them up with one of my tentacles, and looked around the area.

Not many houses were present in the small neighborhood of my once past home. I had never taken the time to look around outside of the castle. Though when would I never need to. Small things like this were a bit fascinating. The homes had been destroyed. Only their ruins remained. Though the houses still gave a welcoming presence, like a home should have given.

I shook myself out of my thoughts very quickly and teleported the two of us into the castle. I placed Y/N into my bed, and moved the covers over their body. They immediately reacted to the new warmth, and curled into a ball. Their eyebrows were furrowed and they seemed to be having a nightmare.
