Halloween was chaotic.

Loads of children had decided to come to my house specifically. While I didn't have any special candy, I think it was because of Nightmare.

Word might have gotten around about Nightmare scaring people at my house. Every time that he did scare a kid, a grin was placed on his face. It seemed as if he could tell each reaction was genuine and different. He did feed on negativity after all.

I would do the usual. I'd place candy in their bucket, or whatever they had with them, and then Nightmare would scare them, making them run off to the next house. My neighbors were an old couple, and liked to give out bigger candy bars. It seemed mine and their house were the favorites tonight.

By the end of the night I was completely exhausted. I almost couldn't make it to my bed that night. Thankfully I did, but only because of Nightmare's help. I would have expected him to either let me freeze outside that night or let me get myself into the house.

As soon as I hit my soft bed's surface, I immediately melted into the mattress. I pressed my head more into the pillow, slowly losing conscious. I wrapped my arms around the first things that I could grab onto, not bothering to open my eyes to see what it was. I let myself drift off into the world of dreams.

Nightmare's POV:

I let Y/N roll out of one of my tentacles, landing on their bed. They seemed to be falling asleep, but not as quickly as I would like them to be. It was probably because of my aura. I sighed and started to walk out of the room, to go downstairs and wait for Y/N when they awake at dawn. Before I could leave though, I felt something wrap around my arm. I turned back around and gazed at my arm.

Y/N's hands were latched onto me. They pulled at my arm until it was pressed against their body. They dragged me to the bed, and I fell onto it. I refused to lay down, and instead just sat on the bed next to them. They smiled in their sleep. It was honestly adorable, though I'd never admit that to their face.

I sighed and a genuine smile made its way onto my face. I couldn't deny the feelings that I was experiencing any longer. Y/N was a great person, and even someone like me could see this. Though my way was different, that didn't matter. I wouldn't dare let someone treat Y/N with disrespect after all of their kind actions to me, no matter the situation. They cared for me, and I cared for them.

I leaned back a bit, and accidentally fell backwards laying next to Y/N. My body just wanted to relax at the moment. I was exhausted from scaring those kids, and even chasing some off. Those long 4 hours of endless movement did a small number on my body.

I shut my eye socket to let my entire body rest. I felt Y/N pull my arm closet to them. I slowly opened my eye and glanced over to their peaceful body. Their eye brows were furrowed upwards and they were biting their lip. They seemed to be having a nightmare. I frowned and stayed put. Entering their dream would make it worse. I couldn't do anything at the moment.

...

Y/N's POV:

I gripped more onto whatever I had been holding onto since I fell asleep. The object was cold and wet, yet comforting and soft. I placed my forehead against whatever it was, and I felt suddenly tense. I pulled away from whatever it was and shot my eyes open, not knowing what to expect.

Nightmare was laying in front of me looking over at me with a dazed look. He looked tired, though that really wasn't possible. I saw a smile creep its way onto his face as he sat up and looked down on me. My body still felt tired and weak. I wanted to continue to lay for the time being.
