the most uneventful week of ophelia's life — the first week of school — was finally over. minus overthinking about her nightmares, slightly more than usual, nothing has happened.

before the summer, her nightmares didn't bother her—it was already a part of her. but after months of not experiencing it, it was like living through that hell again. the only people who knew about it were her dormmates and her parents. now, evan rosier was a part of that list as ophelia told him as they walked towards the quidditch pitch. she, evan and regulus all made a pact to practice for the tryouts this staurday.

except when evan tried waking the aspiring seeker up, he threw his pillows at his friend and asked for five more minutes. an hour later, ophelia and evan gave up and just went to the pitch, asking venus to bring regulus there once he woke up.

"but the nightmares stopped during the summer?" evan asks as they exit the school, the latest broom in his hand as he wore the jersey from last year.

side by side, the two of them looked like twins. with their identical jerseys, brooms and even hair. "yeah."

evan was silent for a while before he stopped dead in his tracks, ophelia almost bumped into his back because she was slightly behind him. he turned around abruptly. "don't you think there's a reason you feel so safe with him? so safe that it stopped one of the effects of the greengrass curse?"

"you think the nightmares are related to the curse?" evan's theory wasn't impossible, more improbable if anything. it was actually the theory her mother proposed when the nightmares started surfacing. "also, i didn't know you knew about the curse." ophelia said as she rubbed the back of her neck.

"i mean it's the only logical reason, right? unless it's ptsd, that's also an option. have you suffered through anything traumatic? i— you don't have to answer that, sorry. also, i mean, everyone knows about the greengrass curse, you know," the two of them began walking again, the pitch was also in seeing range. "regulus, he, uh, thinks it won't be passed unto you. more like hopes, really. we talked about it before, your curse."

"we being you, art and venus?" his silence was her confirmation. ophelia didn't know why she was so bothered by it, but she was. "so you guys, just what, talk about me when i'm not there?"

evan waved his hands in the air, "no, no, well, yes. we did talk about you but not in a bad way where we bitched about you, or something. it was when you and sirius were still dating and you always hung out with the marauders, you know? we thought talking about you might make us feel like you were still there."

"i didn't know that you guys felt that way," ophelia said, feeling bad for neglecting her friends for about a year.

"i mean, it isn't your fault. you really liked sirius and you just happened to get along with his friends, there's no harm in that, lia. i'm just glad that you're hanging out with us as much as you did before," evan said as he smiled, placing his arm on top of her shoulder.

"yeah, you guys are nice to hang out with," she leans her head against his shoulder, smiling. but she eventually pulled away as she scrunched her nose. "except you, though, i'd sell you for a galleon. maybe two."

evan scoffed as she ran away from him, he rolled his eyes before chasing the girl he considered as a sister to the pitch. when he eventually caught up with her, the two of them stood in the middle of the pitch—confused as to how regulus and venus were already there.

training with regulus and evan was even more fun than ophelia anticipated. she was a beater, evan was a chaser whilst regulus was a seeker in their pretend game, venus was sitting on the benches as she did her potions homework.

a part of their training was regulus having to find the snitch as ophelia would try to hit him with the bludger and evan just talking his ear off. at some point duirng their game, even ophelia got annoyed with evan's yammering and aimed the bludger to hit him — and it did.

but eventually they all got tired and went down towards venus. the parkinson girl smiled before looping her arm around her boyfriend's and bid the other couple goodbye, stating that they had a date and had to go.

"do you have anywhere to be right now?" ophelia asked as she and regulus watched evan and venus walk away.

regulus shrugged. "i was gonna plan on sleeping again but i'm guessing you have something planned?"

which as what led to ophelia reading the words of her book aloud, regulus' head on her lap as he listened to her every word with admiration in his eyes. ophelia was blond from root to tip, born to bring more golden sunshine into this world. it showed too—it showed in those soulful blue eyes as bright as any glacier yet so very warm.

"you don't need scores of suitors. you need only one," ophelia said before looking down at regulus, pausing before speaking again, not daring to tear her eyes away from his. "if he's the right one."

he hesitated before sitting up, inching his face closer to hers. their lips feeling faint as it barely touched. regulus wasn't sure that she wanted this, that she was ready for this, but all thoughts of hesitation pushed out the window when ophelia inched closer towards him, their lips brushing against each other.

"i still can't believe she would say yes to you, prongs!" the voice of sirius black and the laughs of the marauders made ophelia pull apart and regulus look down in anger. the formed turned to look where the voices where coming from and wanted to bury a hole six feet deep under ground when she realized they were approaching where she and regulus were sitting. she grabbed regulus' hand and was about to make a run for it when they were spotted. "lia?"

"what? oh! heyyy," ophelia said as she dropped regulus' hand to scratch the back of her neck, the slytherin boy was still looking down, disappointed that he expected anything different from her. "who said yes to james?"

"evans!" peter squealed and ophelia's eyes widened.

"you're joking!" she said as she approached james, hugging him as the potter boy's smile didn't drop at all. "i'm happy for you, prongs." james shrugged like a little kid in the candy store, his smile so wide that his jaw was already hurting. "but, uh, regulus and i have some plans for today. but i'm happy for you, mate!"

ophelia smiled at the group before grabbing regulus' hand and walking the other direction.

and as they walked back into the castle, their fingers still intertwined, the greengrass girl couldn't help but think about why she felt so safe with regulus.
