months have passed and to say ophelia's condition has gotten better would be a lie. the stubborn girl refused to be sent to st. mungos and it didn't help that mr and mrs greengrass also didn't want her to send her there, for some reason.

people— her friends and dormmates—visited her daily. though, lily and the marauders took more precaution when visiting her.

ophelia, lily and remus had their weekly 'tea time thursday' in the hospital wing now. lily would gush about how well she and james were getting along. remus would talk about this boy he liked—then refused to tell either of them his name. and ophelia told them about her and regulus' kiss.

they reacted way better than evan and venus. actually, neither of the couple actually told them. it was the day after their first kiss when the three of them visited her after school, and instead of a simple 'hello', regulus kissed her.

the two screamed and shouted 'oh, merlin's balls!'

despite already seeing her during his visit with lily on thursdays, he would accompany his fellow marauders on wednesdays. they would keep her up to speed with things like 'caroline and cherry had a very public fight, it was very bad' or 'jones keeps eyeing your man'.

ophelia was sure that remus had told sirius and the rest of their group about her kiss with regulus, because they weren't that shocked when he kissed her when he arrived a few hours later. sirius still hid the pang in his heart as he smiled.

"does being sick terrify you?" dumbledore had allowed regulus to sleep in the hospital wing with ophelia. and after his decision with making james this year's headboy, ophelia couldn't help but feel that the headmaster liked playing matchmaker.

she stared at their laced hands and felt the weight of her head on his shoulder as she sighed. "i'm more terrified for the people i'll leave, to be honest."

regulus nods as he looks out the window, noticing how dark it was. around this hour was the best for conversations like these. conversations that were only meant for the two of them. but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

he couldn't bring himself to think about the after.

so he opened the book once more and read, not noticing ophelia drifting off to dreamland.

but she wasn't dreaming. dreams were rainbows, sunshine and unicorns. this, was nothing like that. there were no rainbows, only rain. there was no sunshine, only darkness. no unicorns, only the endless depths of fear.

"aunt athena, where are we going?" young ophelia asked as her auntaunt athenadragged her across the boat. based on the darkness, it must have been three hours passed midnight when her aunt woke her up. "where is mother and father?"

she didn't answer her questions, only kept waking as though they were being chased by a monster. but she eventually stoppedwhen they were in the vertical opposite of where the rooms were—and crouched down, leaving her eyes with ophelia. she placed her hands on top of the girl's shoulders.

"we are cursed, my dear," she spoke. "it is the curse us first-born greengrass women must bare. it is why you and i are so alike. you've noticed it, haven't you? you aren't like your dad, who is too quiet. you aren't like your aunt artemis, who is too loud. you and i are alike."

young ophelia nodded, still not understanding why she was torn away from her previous dream of her riding a pony on top of a rainbow. it was a very good dream. the last dream she would have.

"i love you, ophelia." they were the last words her aunt said as she carried her in her arms, standing up, and jumping off the boat.
