tw: mentioning of killing a lot of times

ophelia greengrass was like a painting over time.

in the beginning, she was beautiful. elegant, graceful at times. people would take time out of their day simply to see her. but as time went by, the colors that once vibrated and called people to look at her, started fading. inch by inch, the painting—and herself—started to become a shadow of what they were once.

as she sat in her and regulus' kitchen, skimming through books, she was without a shadow (no pun intended) of a doubt, no longer herself. long gone was the girl that changed herself to make others like her. long gone was the quiet slytherin who loved sirius black. long gone was obidient the head girl and quidditch captain.

she and regulus were meant to come back to school three days ago, but they didn't. news of the greengrass-manor-massacre had spread and people from both sides of the war were on edge. the people that died that day were the opressors, they were meant to be reigning supreme amidst these times. yet they weren't reigning anywhere, just worm food.

the number one question had everyone at the edge of their seats; who had done it?

but that wasn't what ophelia was thinking about. she refused to think about how 95% of the people she loved were dead. she and regulus had a silent agreement that they were just going to focus on what they've been focusing on since the term started.

horcruxes. regulus had theorizes voldemort's usage of it during the summer whilst they stayed in the headquarters. and since it was the only lead they had on the man (if you can call him that), they spent countless hours researching on it. now, they needed the answers to it more than ever.

"i've got something," regulus said as he exited the library, which was connected to the kitchen. he knew his wife, so of course the books were beside the food. "look," he said as he placed a book in front of ophelia and pointed to a line he found interesting.

"fiendfyre?" ophelia said, raising her eyebrows before nodding.

a silent agreement passed through them. regulus will search more about the horcruxes while she searched more on fiendfyre.

then a pop sound causes both of them to whip their heads towards the direction of the living room. the two of them had placed very strong protection charms around the house and only few were allowed to enter. and all of them were dead.

"kreacher," regulus said, his tone normal. but ophelia knew better. she knew that a small part of him hoped that it was one of their friends. she knew because she had thought the same for a split second. hope often hurt them more than any blade. "are you ready to go?"
