it was the last day of training. the tributes were going to train for half the day and then after lunch, they'd have their private sessions in which they show off what they are capable of and are scored from one to twelve.

jihyun was practising making another snare trap with chenle and renjun, but her mind was elsewhere. she was debating if she should try to get a low training score so that she could appear weak and catch tributes off guard in the arena. that was the strategy doyoung had successfully used and he ended up winning. but the problem was, jihyun had exposed herself too much and everyone had already seen most of her skills so that wouldn't work. she was also unsure of what speciality she should show. she sighed, throwing the cord to the floor.

"damn. what did that cord do to you?" renjun asked and she shook her head, brushing off his question.

"what speciality are you going to show the gamemakers?" she questioned.

"i'm not sure yet." chenle replied. "i'm just going to give whatever a shot and see where it takes me. you?"

"shot... oh my!" she pushed herself off the floor. "i didn't even check out the slingshot station! thank you, chenle."

"uh... you're welcome?" he pondered as jihyun rushed off to the said station.

she wanted to slap herself for forgetting about her biggest strength. slingshots. she often went hunting and had learnt how to build the weapons herself. taking down animals had helped her hand coordination and analysis. she could easily take down a person with a slingshot.

no one else was at the station so she stood in front of the targets and picked up the weapon that was loaded with a rock. she held it in one hand, straightening her arm out and using her other hand, she tugged on the elastic rubber. she released and the rock hit the target straight in the face. she did it again and hit the heart. she continued shooting until she was satisfied with the practice and placed the weapon on the table.

"so that's your favourite out of all the specialities you have?" jaemin hummed, appearing next to her with an axe resting on his shoulder.

"will you show the gamemakers that?" jisung queried, joining them.

"it's a secret." she placed a finger against her lips and he furrowed his brows. "what about you guys?"

"i'll show my axe skills and physical strength." jaemin told her. "jisung's probably going to show multiple weaponry skills."

"yeah, i am." he muttered then turned to jihyun. "have you ever tried to slingshot with a knife?"

"no, but i've tried with arrows. i prefer it over archery." she said.

"you don't like archery?"

"i'm just not that great at it." she said, wincing at the idea of picking up a bow and arrow and then embarrassing herself.

"i could teach you." jaemin said. she didn't get a chance to reply as he had latched onto her wrist and began dragging her over to the archery station.

"you shouldn't bother." she told him as he readied the bow for her.

"if we're going to be allies, i might as well teach you a thing or two." he said, handing her the bow. she hadn't yet agreed to be in an alliance with his group, but she guessed she might soon.

"alright then." she lifted the bow, drawing one arm back. she examined the distance between the arrow and the target and once she was sure enough, she was going to release, but jaemin stopped her.

"your stance is wrong." he told her. he guided her so that her stance slightly staggered her feet, with the front foot ahead of the rear and her hips closed to the target. "this is the one most natural to me, but you might prefer an opened stance."
