late at night, jihyun went out onto the balcony to look at the stars, this time her heart was full of happiness rather than grief like all the other times. though, she found that chenle was already there. she almost startled him when she joined him.

"what are you doing out here?" she asked.

"i was hoping you'd be here." he said, taking her arm and pulling her towards him. "i missed you."

"chenle, we live together."

"so? i can still miss you." he said, his hands resting on her hips and hers on his arms.

"yeah, you can." she replied, softly pinching his cheek. "i'm just teasing you, cutie."

"cutie..." he scrunched his nose.

"i remember when i called you that during the victory tour and you got mad at me. why was that?"

"i didn't get mad at you for saying cutie. i like being called that... but it was because you called me a kid as well."

"oh, i remember now. but you know i was only teasing, right?"

"yeah, of course. however, at the time i was blinded by my emotions and i got annoyed. i really didn't want you seeing me as a kid just because i was younger than you. i wanted you to see me as someone who can care for you and protect you. you probably didn't realise i had feelings for you then."

"wait. you've liked me ever since the victory tour? that long ago?" her eyes were wide. "and you didn't say anything..."

"how could i? you weren't sure of your feelings then and neither was i. i think that day i truly started to understand things and that was why i got so annoyed quickly. and now," he pulled her closer by the hips. "my feelings are very clear."

"oh really? what feelings?" she asked, grinning.

"oh, you know. pure hatred and anger— kidding. my absolute adoration and romantic feelings for you." he said, tucking her hair behind her ear and then his hand rested against her cheek. "you mean so much to me, my pretty little star."

"chenle..." she whispered, resting her hand on top of his.

"jihyun..."

the moon cast a serene glow on their skin, accentuating their features. as they stood there, their eyes met and the world around them faded into the background. jihyun could feel chenle's free hand snaking around her waist and pulling her even closer till she could feel the tickle of his breath under her nose.

her face tilted up as his hand on her cheek rubbed circles on her skin, their lips a heartbeat away. they paused, admiring the look in each others eyes and then chenle's head dipped down and jihyun's eyes fluttered shut when their lips met.

it was a delicate and tender kiss under the constellations that adorned the sky above them, twinkling and shining. his lips were impossibly soft and sweet against hers and it warmed her heart. she stood on her toes, throwing her arms around his neck and he responded by tightening his hold on her waist, not leaving any room in between them as they lost themselves in the feeling of holding each other close.

jihyun could feel him smiling against her lips and she assumed he could hear how fast and loud her heart was beating at that moment or maybe he was thinking about the stars above them that shone brighter at they witnessed the kiss that was being shared.

when they parted, breathless, they could only stare into each other eyes and process what had happened. chenle didn't regret a single thing and made that known by capturing jihyun's lips in another kiss, but a quick one that made her gasp.
