"jaemin, you okay?" jihyun asked, sitting beside where he was laying on the floor. renjun had told him to stay off his back so it would heal quicker.

"yes." he replied and when she looked at him, unimpressed, he sighed. "okay, i'm still in pain but it's not as intense as before."

"you want me to kiss you better?" she joked and for once he didn't reply slyly and stared at her, his cheeks turning red. "i'm only joking, but maybe it will help..."

she leaned forwards, placing her lips on his cheek. when she moved back, his mouth was agape and his cheeks even darker than before.

"what was that for?"

"tell me, is all the blood rushing to your cheeks? your heart beating faster than before? your attention solely focused on my actions?" she asked, watching his eyebrows furrow in confusion. "do you feel the pain in your back? no, because i distracted you from it."

and she was right. he didn't feel the previous sting of his wounds or the fact that his body was aching from having laid in the same position for so long. his mind was locked on that kiss.

"thank you." he muttered and she smiled, placing her hand on his head and playing with his hair.

"go to sleep." she told him. "when you wake up, you'll feel better."

he nodded his head, closing his eyes and enjoying the feelings of her fingers in his hair. he began to fall into slumber and soon he was knocked out. jihyun continued to run her hand through his hair, a pout on her lips. she felt guilty that she left. she would go insane if he had been hurt and she wasn't here for him.

"he really admires you, you know?" jisung said, sitting beside her.

"how so?" she hummed, turning to face him.

"he talks so highly of you all the time. ever since training for the first hunger games. we all got thrown in ambiguously and i know some of us came off as too proud and cocky, jaemin definitely being one of them, but really we were all the same. he'd tell me and jeno about how intriguing you were and then the interest turned into admiration. he was like a love struck puppy." jisung laughed. "he liked how you stayed strong even after everything that had happened because he knew it was tearing him down. i think we all really admire you for different reasons but that's one we can all agree on. your ability to keep going is your best trait."

"i didn't realise you were so good with words." jihyun said, placing her head on his shoulder. "thank you. that really means a lot."

"it's no problem. i felt a bit sappy for a moment." he replied, wrapping his arm around her waist as he stared at the fire ahead of them. he made eye contact with chenle on the other side who smiled and waved at the two of them. jihyun immediately grinned, feeling her mood being lifted even more. chenle had that affect on her.

"i never should have left."

"yeah, you shouldn't have." jisung scoffed.

"hey! you're supposed to make me feel less guilty." she said, hitting him. "no, but seriously, i'm sorry for disappearing like that."

"i get why you did it, but it doesn't matter now. you're back and that's all i care about."

"yeah. i'm back."
