Happy Friday, lovely Beatlemaniacs! Here's the latest update to "If You Believe". This is mostly for moving our story along to some tough times. Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day. I know it's really hard this time of season. Enjoy! Love, Lara xo
The house was quieter than normal that morning, even the pair of stray cats Annie brought in the day before were quiet after several good meals and a warm place to sleep at the foot of their bed. She slipped out of their bedroom and made her way downstairs where Da was reading the paper and sipping on hot tea.
"Mornin' Da," Annie greeted cheerfully. "Would you like oatmeal or eggs for breakfast?"
"What's fastest, darlin'?"
"Hm...doesn't matter. I was going to cook eggs and toast for George and take it upstairs so he could take his time getting up."
"Eggs are fine. Just throw one on for me."
"Will do," Annie smiled. "And can I interest you in a muffin?"
"Always," Da smiled back. "How is our boy feeling?"
Annie looked up at the ceiling for the right words. "I think he's feeling much better. He seemed to have turned a corner." She turned her back on George's dad so he wouldn't see the grin on her face.
"I'm glad. No doubt your excellent care, my dear."
"Thank you Da. I think he's also just a 'fast healer'." Annie's head bent forward in muffled laughter. "Would you like more tea?"
"Ta."
They chatted about the unseasonably cold weather and the garden and other little things while Annie cooked. She served Da and headed upstairs with a tray of food and tea for George. "I'll see you in a bit, Da," she said.
"Take your time," he winked.
Annie realized she hadn't fooled George's Dad one bit as she walked upstairs and managed to open the bedroom door. Fortunately, George was still asleep; she knew how he hated to wake up alone. When she sat the tray down on a chair, one eye popped open to see if it was worth opening the other eye. George squinted at her for a moment before he found his voice.
"What are you doing, baby?" he mumbled.
"Breakfast in bed for us," she smiled warmly at him. "In honor of the milestone you passed last night."
"You punt like a son-of-a-bitch," he grinned. "It's made a new man out of me."
Annie looked at him with a smirk. "Guess we just had to get the testosterone moving again, huh?"
George laughed and sat up with only a slight grimace. "Yesterday, I couldn't move a fucking inch and now I feel better."
"Well, don't overdo it, Batman. You're just shy of 2 weeks out from being stabbed and unconscious for 3 days. Let's not push it."
"You've shown me the rejuvenating effects of sex," he looked at her none too subtly. "Now you've done it. Created a monster...."
"You know this revitalization is going to last until you get out of bed, don't you? One trip down the stairs and you're going to forget all about sex."
"Who says we have to get out of bed?" he asked, a pure, innocent look crossing his face.
Annie giggled. "If you're thinking about some football off tackle, reverse, trap, blitz, you better think again. You'll blow a gasket and set yourself back the 2 weeks you just came from."
"Can I call a safety?"
"Yes. That means you eat and then I'll help you out of bed."
"Field goal?"
