A/N -- Hi dearest ones! Only 1-2 more chapters and that will be the end of the George and Annie saga. It's definitely easier to let them go when you have another story going on. I get so attached to my characters that It's sometimes hard to end the story! But Jeremy and Eve have a wonderful ending and let's hope George and Annie do too! Enjoy! love Lara xo
Jeremy and Eve were married at Friar Park on a beautiful, clear, crisp day in October, 1978. She always said she loved fall weddings, and she got her wish, marrying the man of her dreams. The man of Annie's dreams, George, made sure the gardens were absolutely beautiful and helped her immensely planning and executing the wedding.
After the ceremony, Eve pulled Annie into the back den and closed the door. "I've been thinking..."
"What? This is your wedding day. That's all the information you need right now."
"You and George. Forgive him, Annie. Forgive him free and clear and go back to being 'Annie and George'. I'm not sure I could say that separately. You belong together, and always have. I know he wants you to believe in him, but there are so many indicators that he and Sam...well, you know."
"I haven't gone anywhere up to this point. Believing is hard in the midst of all the evidence," Annie commented as she tucked the train on Eve's dress to the button at her waist.
"Can't bullshit a bullshitter," Eve looked her in the eye. "You know you're keeping one toe on the flee button and it's been a long, long time. Let it go, Annie."
"I can't because if anything, more calls and letters are coming. I wish I could open one of those letters, but I just can't. They're addressed to George and I couldn't infringe on his privacy that way. I have thought about it, but can't."
"Then talk to him that you've had it with the phone and mail. Tell him you'll pack up your shit and Ava's shit and are outta there unless he comes clean. What's to lose if you do it? Your foot is already out the door."
"The letters and calls stopped for a long time, but they're back again. And I'm not doing another round like last year. All his secrecy. Hiding the fucking things in his locked drawer in the desk," she commented with both sadness and anger in her voice. "And I guess my foot wasn't out the door far enough because I'm pregnant."
"WHAT?" Eve blasted.
"Yeah. Pregnant. I saw the doctor last week."
Eve took Annie in her arms and hugged her. There was no joy in her voice about her news. "Don't tell George. I haven't said anything yet."
"Okay, I won't. Can I tell Jeremy?"
"Yeah. But tell him not to say anything until I tell George. My mom and dad don't even know yet."
"You don't seem happy about this, Annie....." Her blasé responses worried Eve.
"Well, I can't do anything about it now."
Eve took her by the shoulders as fear flashed across her face. "What do you mean? Don't be fucking stupid."
"Oh, don't worry," she waved her hand. "Now c'mon. I bet your brand new husband is looking for you. Let's go back to the party."
Eve pulled Annie's back into room. "Talk until you get answers, Annie."
"You know, sometimes I don't even give a shit anymore."
And that comment worried Eve more than anything. It simply wasn't Annie, so she decided Mr. George Harrison, ex-Beatle, M.B.E. needed a talking to and she was just the person to do it. Fucking pissed off now, she marched back into the wedding, sat Annie down at a table with friends and sought out Jeremy, pulling him back to the laundry room.
