Happy Friday Update, Dearest Beatlemaniacs! Yes, I'm working toward those 50,000 words by November 30 -- NaNoWriMo 2021. They have another challenge in July - Camp NaNoWriMo, which I'm contemplating. Anyway, some tough times coming up for George and Annie but some good things too. And remember, time warps happen in this story! Hope you enjoy this latest addition--let me know your thoughts, you give the greatest comments! Happy Weekend and enjoy! :-) Lara xo
It was a long, arduous trip to Maui, just over 18 hours in all to arrive at the cottage on the beach, with George battling nausea and stomach pain the entire way. Annie had suggested they stay home until he was feeling better, but George decided to soldier on and figured recuperation on Maui was preferable to recuperation at Friar Park.
After settling in the cottage, and nighttime falling upon them, they got ready for bed and slept for the next 10 hours, rising with a mid-morning sun and soft, Hawaiian breezes.
Annie offered George toast and tea, which he took and by the end of the first day, he seemed to rally. They took a long walk on the beach at sunset and sat in the warm, white sand to watch the sun disappear behind a mountain range. Annie brought a basket with tea in a thermos and cheese, crackers and chunks of fresh pineapple, but advised George to stick to the tea and crackers. While Annie leaned against a palm tree, George laid his head in her lap and promptly fell asleep as she gently ran her fingers through his hair.
It was a mystery to Annie what George had eaten to get him so ill. She imagined it could be just a virus but either way, he needed fluids and rest. One thing that struck her was if he continued to be sick and needed to be hospitalized, they were a rather long way from help, then she decided to stop worrying about what hadn't even happened.
She was thrilled when he woke in her lap feeling much better and surprisingly hungry. As darkness fell, they walked back to the cottage and Annie thought that a simple dinner with a vegetable rice dish might be good for George's condition and not overload his system. After dinner, a shower revived him and he joined Annie out on the beach on a summer sofa.
"You're feeling better?" Annie asked him as he sat next to her.
"Much. I'm glad that's fucking over with. There was about 8 hours I wished someone would've killed me."
"Well, I'm glad no one did otherwise I'd be very lonely on this beach....," Annie said, pulling him to her by his collar and kissing him.
"You sure you want to do that? You've heard all about Typhoid Mary?"
Annie laughed. "I'll risk it."
"You're sure?"
"I'm sure."
"How do you feel about sleeping on the beach? I could get a couple blankets..."
"Why not?" Annie nodded. "If we get uncomfortable, we can always go inside. The weather is perfect...the sound of the ocean relaxing."
George rose and picked two thick blankets from a cabinet in the cottage and shut the lights off on his way back to Annie. The beach was dark but the moon covered them in a soft blue light reflecting off the water. Annie helped him put the one blanket on the sand and they laid down, the other blanket at their feet.
"Are you comfortable, baby?" he asked her.
"Yes," she nodded quietly. "It's beautiful here."
George rolled on his side to look at her and caress her bare shoulder.
"You must be feeling better," Annie giggled. "Are you trying to tell me something?"
"I could present a multi-media, overhead projector slide show, if you'd like."
