Ink was empty had been empty ever since back then. He would rather not exist this way but there wasn't anything he could really do at this point. Without a soul he should be dead. He didn't have determination like the floweys to support their existence.

Then the reason he continued to exist. Was it to create? That was the only thing he could really do. His vials and ink come from his own magic. A magic that should not have existed without a soul.

All he could really do was create. It wasn't like he had any other way to live. So alternate universes were born by his magic. He felt no joy in creating them. Even with his emotion vials he just felt more empty.

Alone with his thoughts. His paints might incline him towards certain emotions but usually they twist into whatever emotions his mind latches on to.

Again he was wrong a being that shouldn't exist. He didn't want to exist like this. But if there is one lesson he had learned over watching the universes is that souls were an extremely complex business. The only reason he had never took a dive to obtain one of his own was the obvious results of this process.

He admits to creating universes around this purpose alone. The results were always failures. Ink had given up on this and took his attention back to creating universes. He had spent to much time creating copies for finding a solution. So making more unique universes was his crutch.

The thing that held him together mentally: a purpose, a focus, a goal. So Dream tale was born and Reaper tale came to be. Along with some other odd universes. Ink didn't have anything better to do. Though he had to sanction off a universe where the sans created a soulless apocalypse.

He didn't care for the concept of time as it hadn't really mattered to him. So when a few of his universes started disappearing he just blinked it off as them dying of old age. Some universes have a faster time slot than others making this possible.

Then more started disappearing and Ink was distantly curious. Setting up an alarm Ink arrived before the death of the next and saw the craziest skeleton he had ever seen. One that had broken away from its timeline/universe somehow.

He found it all so interesting and decided he might as well have fun with it. And so a one sided form of archenemies began. Ink didn't actually care if Error destroyed the universes as he could just make new ones. No he just enjoyed the fights and strange company of the skeleton.

Error had long learned Ink was soulless and it had been nothing more than a passing thought. Ink took his vials more often to get the feel of it all. Interacting with others was nice.

Then Nightmare appeared and Ink giggled wondering if only insane monsters can escape their universes. Nightmare wasn't capable of having a clear mind for a long time. By that point Dream had appeared wanting to 'save' his brother.

Ink just left Nightmare and Dream to fight watching it all like a tv show. He swore Error was doing the same. They had similar tastes in entertainment. Error had calmed down over the centuries as well but he wore his destroyer title with pride. Ink didn't care for his own.

Actually he had never introduced himself as the creator so no one knew he was the one that brought them to life. They just gave him the title of protector of aus. Sans had become strangely good at creating devices to travel universes or at least send messages between them.

Him and Error had opened the flood gates for that when leaving those universes alive and in the know after their fights.

Meeting Dream was interesting in the fact he was oblivious as hell. How could half a god of emotions not sense he didn't actually have any at all was a mystery. All sorts of shenanigans came along. Nightmare forming a gang and Error joining them. Error kidnapping and releasing the original swap sans who joined him a dream to make the "good guys".

He wore his 'emotions' to match their cheery levels and beliefs. A group of original sans creating a council with them in it. He created these places to gather and live in away from the doodle sphere. Nobody needs to know about his creation area.

The two sides fought often sometimes alongside whatever sans in the universes they protected. This was becoming a bit of a chore for Ink. He had a harder time meeting the bad guys in circumstances he could mess with them.

Error was his favorite always would be and was the easiest to get to. Ink was happy as the vials could make him but the eternal emptiness was crushing. His friends were probably gonna figure out soon enough. A soulless being just doesn't connect with others well.

Once they did they felt betrayed and yelled at him. He was evicted from the star sans and ostracized from his peers. He felt better drinking less paints now.

In an au he was creating red strings shot at him. He fended them off destroying them. Narrowing his eyes at the unknown magic signature. It was powerful enough to compete with him.

He knew he didn't create whatever this was unlike Error. The magic tasted of trickery and deceit, corruption in a way. He frown and set about hunting it down even when other sans tried obstructing with their hatred of soulless creatures.

He found a lead in the anti void where Error stood completely off. He saw invisible to mortal eyes red strings wrapped around his soul. Ink fought viscously and cut the red strings from Error.

Fate growled as the Ink of this multiverse was to strong and has a powerful defense against its influence.

Figuring out this universe was under the influence of this creature Ink and the bad guys joined forces to take it down.

Once fate failed and had been cornered proclaiming that they couldn't die. Ink went berserk and fucking destroyed the invader. It was a terrifying sight.
