Basically the characters are replaced. Error is the Sans of the au who was basically a secret hitman. Ink takes the role of Toriel who falls in the with Error. Ink who is married to Asgore or rather Dream who is a secret mafia boss.

Dream has a secret twin brother named Nightmare. Error's older brother who is Geno suffers from a serious soul illness and younger brother Fresh is a kid that always causes trouble. Error is a hitman to pay for their living as their mother is dead. Geno's too sick to work and Fresh is in high school.

Error and Ink meet a lot accidentally like when they go to the store for groceries. This leads to them falling in love and start a secret relationship. Ink was previously forcibly engaged and married to Dream as Ink was seen as more of a pretty face by his parents than an actual heir for their company. He doesn't know Dream is a mafia boss.

Nightmare is also a mafia boss and was extremely jealous as his parents favored Dream for everything. So he took the little inheritance he could get and built his own little empire. He schemes to take everything from Dream.

Dream was smart being shown the ropes by their parents. He was a good mafia boss and in control of two strong companies. He takes a slower approach than Nightmare to increase his influence.

Error worked for both sides being a freelancer. He wasn't dumb enough to accept the high risk targets and so wasn't famous keeping a low profile. Dream was to busy to spend time with Ink.

So time to flesh out the background so more. How did Error become a hitman?

Well it all started with a hotdog stand and a person named Sans. Sans was a retired hitman as much as anyone in the underworld can be retired. He sold cheap hotdogs which since Geno's hospital bills took a toll on their money even when their single mother was alive it was a relief to buy. They meet often enough while Error was still in high school and one thing lead to another. Sans gave Error an offer that he accepted even if it meant being a killer for higher. So Sans trained Error to be his successor.

He would do anything for his brothers which Sans understood as he had raised his little brother Papyrus alone. His own father had been an inventor of sorts who created weapons and chemicals in the underground. They had escaped him and lived on the streets as Sans ruthlessly made his way to the top as the best hitman while pampering his brother.

Ink was different he didn't have anyone he was close to. His parents kept him isolated and homeschooled to be a pretty wall flower. He went to parties and gatherings, but quickly learned making friends in such a crowd was impossible with everyone wanting something from each other. Ink was lonely and bit desperate and being married to somehow whose always busy and similarly detached from him as his parents made Ink desperate for an actual personal relationship.

When Ink kept meeting Error he left his last name out of the equation as Error didn't seem to recognize him. Ink was so happy to finally have someone. They both shared an artistic interest as Error original wanted a degree in arts once he finished high school, but with their money problems and getting training under Sans it never pained out as anything other than a hobby. Ink was a painter while Error was more inclined as a designer.

You might be thinking well how can Error spare so much time between his job, brothers, Ink and his hobby. Well because unlike what you'd think professional killing is an extremely lucrative business. Especially now with cameras everywhere and police ready to chase you down the risks of being found out were huge. So the pay out is more than enough to pay Geno's hospital bills.

So let's go to the drama.(Wow my mind is going into way to many directions here.) You can already tell what kind of drama to expect from the jealous twin fighting, so more plot with that. Error eventually finds out Ink is married to Dream and panics because holy shit he was unknowingly having an affair with a mafia boss's wife.(lol) Ink might be pregnant and Error's family was living in Dream's turf.

Then when he had been injured recently on a mission and having Sci returned a favor to heal him. Sci ran a few tests. This caused Sci to contact someone without Error knowing. Sci contacted 404 a mafia boss on pair and above Dream and Nightmare as Error's dna matched with 404's missing son.(I'm to lazy to plot out this mess)

So the other characters of the multiverse you know and love are up now.

Blue works for Nightmare as a spy for Dream. He's also a yandere for Dust who is one of Nightmare's right hand men. Cross is a double agent working for and against both sides. He's actually on 404's side as one of his many infiltrators. He's also slept with each twin on many occasions.(pfft)

Outer, Stretch, Farmer, and Candy are some of Dreams top subordinates while Dust, Horror, Killer, and Edge are some of Nightmare's. Lust is Farmer's wife who turns out to actually be a spy for 404. Fell is Nightmare's spy within Dream's subordinates.

Then there's 404 the mafia king in all but name. He has connections all over the underworld and is a master at manipulation. His son disappeared a long time ago and he's been searching for him ever since. His main subordinates stood as Fatal, Sci, Blueberror, Seraphim, and his husband Bill.

How did Error end up taken? Well it all started with 404's own mafia boss rival Fate. Their war was vicious and the results left scars even till today. 404 won and killed Fate, but Fate had a younger sister she kept hidden named Destiny. Destiny kidnapped Error before 404 discovered her existence and gave her to her cousin Karma. But before Karma could plot anything he died of heart failure.

The child without anyone knowing who they were was abandoned and winds up being taken in by Miss Queen. He became the middle childhood after Crayon Queen took in Fresh who was chaos incarnated. Geno was taken in far earlier as his parents abounded him once they experienced how hard it was to raise a sickly child.

(I just thought replacing the plot and characters would be fun as Undernovola sounded like a perfectly overly dramatic au. I don't really know much about the original plot but from the small amounts I've scene it's looks fun to play with.)
