It was something easily hidden as he only had a small fragment of a glitched up soul. Error was the Guardian Of The Multiverse a keeper against threats both inside and outside the multiverse. Although he had gained the title of destroyer because of the aus he had to destroy to keep the multiverse safe.

Viruses were usually easily deleted and universes patched up but sometimes a world was just too infected or the main stabilizers of that universe to broken to be fixed. So he destroyed those worlds but that wasn't the only reason he had to destroy aus.

You see the multiverse had only limited amount of space that slowly grows. Though ink might say he was the creator he actually wasn't and these universes formed naturally mutating away from their central form or a new timeline is formed from the resets. The multiverse is put under so much strain during those moments of to many forming that he had no other choice but to dispose of them.

It was made all the worse by the fact his bond with the multiverse that had formed from some short of anomaly in the anti void made him share in its pain. The pain was far worse than anything else that he had ever felt even being melted alive. He usually goes quite mad if he doesn't keep the numbers down from the agony.

This was why he was considered insane and untrustworthy by even the dark sans as he had more than once been caught off guard by large amount of universes spawning at once. It was the only reason he was even a destroyer in the first place otherwise he would have already allowed the multiverse to self destruct.

His pain threshold might be insane but he just couldn't endure the agony that comes with not destroying. Unfortunately he couldn't die as he constantly glitched back to reality after an experience that should kill him.

His life was literal suffering as he either had to fight enemies to destroy worlds or do nothing and eventually snap into madness based destruction. Maybe he'll be lucky and they'll one day put him out of his misery. He doubt it.

Of course he was proven wrong as they somehow created a way to reverse himself from being Error. The consequences of his actions was being locked back into his Aftertale story and his bond with the multiverse pleasantly muted. His multiverse was completely locked away and now he was back in the save screen. Unable to die although he could do some hacking.

So he got rid of his eternal bleeding and the pain that came with his form. He was content to sleep here even while the multiverse falls apart without him.

The thing about his au was the fact that it was just the save screen that exists since his stunt with to much determination ripped the rest of the au to bits. By that point he couldn't find any love left for these people. It had been over 8000 genocide resets and a true reset that made everyone forget his existence.

Even when he told the monsters about the resets they were willing to restart the cycle if only to save their prince. That only got them a never ending cycle until he had escaped the save screen with sheer determination and injected himself with more of it.

He knew alternate timeline branches had formed out of aftertale but his meddling had somehow permanently locked down any other copies being made. His second timeline got together with death and escaped their universe not even looking back after the human gave a happy ending. He didn't know if Genocide had realized the human had restarted the reset cycle again.

There was only one more timeline where a genocide was still trapped in the save screen and had given up completely. They were like a puddle that couldn't completely die because of their determination. It made him reflect on how truly terrifying monsters are with determination. He never found another alternative universe that injected their sans equivalent with determination and survived.
