I woke up to the tickle of my cat Salem licking my nose. I slowly blinked my eyes open and there she was laying on my pillow looking at me with those big green eyes. She meowed at me, and I pet her on her fluffy black furred head. "Yes, I know," I told her, "It's breakfast time and you're probably hungry." I got up and out of my comfy bed not realizing the temperature dropped. I guess that's what I get for forgetting to turn my heat on in October in New England.

I walk into the kitchen with Salem at my heels and I get her food in her bowl and set it on the floor for her. I myself made a coffee and decided to see what was going on in the Facebook world. As I'm scrolling on my phone, I see the news channel posted on their page about these weird sighting, which I guess isn't very strange when you live in New Hampshire, but these sightings are different. I clicked on the video that was attached, "People in the area of Sullivan County have reported over ten sightings of these creatures. They have described them as vampire looking. These demonic creatures have been reported in these towns listed, Claremont, Croydon, Goshen, Lempster, Newport, and Unity. If anyone in these areas travels after dark be very cautious as these creatures have only been seen at night."
Well then, that's definitely something different for the area. I guess I got to be careful, I live in the middle of Claremont, but you never know. I finished my last sip of coffee and got up to put my cup in the sink when I heard my roommate Emma, whose also my absolute best friend since preschool, walk into the kitchen. She was dressed and looked as though she was ready to start her day. Her short blond hair was pulled to the side with Bobby pins, and she looked comfy in her sweater and leggings. "Salem woke you up again," she asked looking down at Salem whose licking her lips as she finished the rest of her food.

"Yeah, she did. She's lucky she's so cute. Oh, also have you looked at the news, there's been a bunch of reports of people seeing weird things around here."

"That's odd, but I'm not surprised this is New Hampshire, people see the strangest things," She said as she went to grab a k cup to make a coffee and realized we're all out, " why didn't you tell me we're out of coffee girl?"

"I just had the last one I'm sorry," I shyly laughed, "I'll make it up and we can go get either Dunkin' Donuts or Aroma Joes."

"Good, Aroma it is. Go get ready so we can go. I'm going to give you an hour tops." She told me and I left the kitchen to get ready. After my shower I did my morning routine, I brushed my teeth, brushed my long wavy brown hair, did my makeup which is just eyeliner and mascara, and got dressed. I wore I dark green sweater, leggings, a burgundy scarf and comfy uggs. Once I was done, I headed downstairs to find Emma playing with a laser beam with Salem. She looks up at me as I approach her, "About time, Abby, let's go. You're driving!" She exclaimed grabbing her purse and rushing out the door after giving Salem one last pet on the head. I grabbed my purse and locked the door on my way out.

"I didn't realize how cold it is today, I really wish I grabbed my coat," I said getting into the car. With it being a day before Halloween I should have realized but my mind is still focused on what I saw on the news so I was distracted.

"You'll be fine," Emma laughed as she buckled her seatbelt.

"I'll have a 24oz iced macchiato with chocolate sauce and red raspberry with almond milk, and she'll have a 24oz iced coffee with caramel and almond milk please," I told the barista in the drive through window. She told me the total and I was about to pay but Emma threw her phone past me to have the barista scan it and I gave her a scowling look and she chuckled. "You know I was going to pay,"

"I know, but you pay every time and I wanted to this time," she gave me a reassuring look as I drove to the pick up window. "We're going to Lebanon right," she asked.

"Yes, we need to get the Halloween costumes for tomorrow," I said kinda regretting it. Emma was a social butterfly while I on the other hand hated going out to parties. I'd prefer to stay home but she always drags me with her.

"I almost forgot about the party," she lied. I know she didn't forget because it's all she's been talking about all month. "It's gonna be the biggest party this year you know, I guess this new guy in town is hosting it this year," this was the first she's mentioned this. Going to a strangers party? I don't know about that. Usually we only go to parties that our friends from high school or college throw.

"That sounds like fun," I said with fake enthusiasm. The drive through window opened and the barista handed me our drinks. I said thank you and we were off heading to Lebanon which was about a forty minute drive.

"You should get this one," Emma exclaimed showing me a kinda slutty devil costume. She new I was more into the dark type of scary costumes as she went with a cute sexy angel costume.

"Eh, i don't know about that one," it just seemed too much and showed way to much. "Is there something that's a little less revealing?"

"Fine, what about this one," she held up a cute vampire costume that wasn't too slutty and it had a cape I could use to cover myself if need be.

"I guess that one will work," I said with a little smile. "Let's go and pay." We get to the register and the guy at the counter gave us an odd look as we put our things up to pay.

"What party you lovely ladies going to tomorrow?" The cashier asked in a hoarse voice looking at the costumes we picked out. He was wearing sunglasses inside which seemed pretty odd to me. His hair was a mess and his skin was oddly pale.

"Oh just the biggest party in Claremont!" Emma said excitedly. I shot her a warning look and she didn't seem to notice. The guy was taking his sweet time ringing us out.

"Oh how nice," he said with fake enthusiasm. "Maybe I'll just have to go and bring some of my friends," the way he said this creeped me out.

"Can you please hurry sir, we're kinda in a rush," I said trying to make him go faster. We only had two items it's not like we were buying the hole store.

"Of course pretty lady. You're total is $72.59." I quickly shoved my card into the card reader and it approved. "Would you like your receipt?"

"No, no thank you," I said grabbing the bag and grabbing Emma's arm and heading out the door extremely fast.

"What was that for," Emma asked with a confused look once we were out of the store.

"There was something off about that guy. He was giving off a bad vibe Em. Plus who wears sunglasses inside anyways, especially in October," I said opening the car door. "Also, why did you say something about the party tomorrow?"

"I was just trying to be nice," She said with a disappointing look on her face. The thing about Emma is she's to nice. The kinda nice where she could only have one shirt on her back and she'd give you it and more.

"I know, you just gotta be careful who you tell things to," I told her, but she did what she always does when I give her this speech and she just rolled her eyes. "Anyways, let's head home."
