Once I made it home everyone was asleep, besides Derik, who I thought wasn't even staying with us. "Abby," Derik said following me into the kitchen. "I'm so glad you're home safe." I just wanted to come home and enjoy some tea and watch some tv and relax after the couple days I've had. I ignored him and started making my tea. "Abby, why aren't you talking to me."

I looked at him and slowly said," Derik, I had a tough couple of days. I just wanna relax." He just looked at me sadly.

"You were with some guy, weren't you," he asked sounding hurt. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Actually yes, this guy I was with saved my life twice. Now he's helping me and showing me how to be a vampire. We're trying to figure out something that makes zero sense to me," I raised my voice a little. "Plus, it doesn't matter who I was with, we are not a couple." He looked so heart broken but I didn't care right now. Just then the doorbell chimed.

"I'll go get that, so you can relax," he said sounding upset. He headed out the kitchen, I heard the front door open and about thirty seconds later it closed shut. Derik came back into the kitchen holding an envelope. "It has your name it," he said handing it to me. I knew who it was from and opened it anyway. I read out loud so Derik could know what it said.

"Abigail Taylor,
I am very disappointed in our ceremony the other night. Because of what happened, there is a bounty on you. I suggest you turn yourself in soon chosen one.
I am giving you two weeks, hope you make the right choice -ambrosia"

I just set the letter on the table and sat down. I put my head in my hands and just wished my life would go back to normal. "Abby, what happened the other night to make this guy so mad," Derik asked sitting across from me.

"I may have made this guy look like an idiot, refused to join his clan, and escaped without anyone seeing," I told him sitting up in my chair.

"That doesn't sound like you though," he said confused.

"What do you mean," I asked him. I've never been the girl to hold back what I was feeling so I have no idea what he's talking about.

"You're Abby, the girl who didn't say anything unless you were mad, the girl that wanted to fix everyone's problems, not make them worse," he said to me.

"Well if you've had the week I've had you would change a little too," I told him. "I just need to think about what to do. Also I need to talk to my grandmother tomorrow as well."

"Why," Derik asked

"I have to talk to her about my father," I said. "William and Cassius think he has something to do with what happened to me." He didn't look very happy when I mentioned two other guys but his expression changed once I finished the sentence.

"But your father is dead," he said completely confused.

"That's what I've been told, so I have to dig more to figure out what happened." I looked at the clock and realized it was already four in the morning, the sun was gonna be coming up within the next hour. "I'm gonna head to bed and think about this more," I told him standing up.

"Alright, good night," he said watching me grab my tea I forgot on the counter and leave the kitchen.
**********
The next night I woke up around seven in the evening. I got up and got ready to start my night as quickly as I could. I needed to go over to my grandmothers house before she went to bed. As I was finishing up my hair and makeup I heard I quick knock on my bedroom door and before I could say anything Emma walked in. "So, I heard you're going to see grandma," she said coming to sit down on the side of my bed.

"Yes I am," I told her, "would you like to come," I asked looking at her from my mirror. And yes, I found out vampires can see their reflections in the mirror.

"Um, yes," she said excitedly. "I would have went with you even if you didn't ask." Growing up Emma was always over, grandma practically considered her as her granddaughter as well.

I just laughed and finished what I was doing. Once I was done we headed out to my car and were heading up to the trailer park where she lived. On our ride over I told Emma everything that happened the last couple days. "Wait, so you actually drank that guys blood," she asked looking kinda grossed out.

"Yup, apparently I'm the only vampire that can go more than a day without blood," I told her.

"I always knew you were special," she told me as we pulled up the driveway to the trailer. I parked the car and shut off the engine. We both got out and headed to the front door. My grandmothers trailer was a red double wide old trailer, this is the home I grew up in. Emma knocked twice and opened the door. There my tiny grandmother sat in her rocking chair knitting what looked like a blanket and was watching game shows on tv.

"Hi grandma," I said walking over to her to give her a hug. Emma did the same. We both sat down on the sofa next to her chair.

"Hello girls, what a surprise," my grandma said. Elise Ricker, that was her name, she was my moms mom. As I looked at her, her short brown graying hair was the same as it's always been her eyes were the same green as mine. She was almost seventy years old but looked like she was in her late fifties.

"I'm sorry for showing up so late gram," I told her.

"Oh don't worry about that dear. You can come over to see me at any hour," she said sweetly. I smiled at her and stood up and started looking around the room at the pictures of my parents.

"Gram, do you know why my father was so secretive with his work," I asked her looking at the picture of my parents together.

"I really wish I knew hun," she said rocking in her chair still knitting away. "If I did know, I would have told you."

"Did he ever have a set time of hours he worked," I asked trying to get out as much information as I could.

"He actually worked nights. He would go to work usually about nine at night and not come home till sometimes as late as four or five in the morning," she explained.

"Huh," I said. "But you have no idea what he did,"

"No idea, you're mother didn't even know either hun. Like I've told you your whole life Abby, I have told you everything I know," she told me as she continued to knit away. I just accepted it and sat back down. Emma and I talked to gram for about another hour until she was ready for bed and that's when we decided to head home.
