⚠️Trigger: Homophobia⚠️

"How could we not see this?!" Was the first thing I heard my mom shout when I walked through the door after school.

As I walk into the kitchen, I catch both of my parents' attention.

"Good Melanie your home." My dad looks at me with a look that looks disgusted and disappointed.

I have an idea why, but how did they find out, I am so careful every time.

"W... what's going on?" I ask nervously waiting for them to confirm my suspension.

"What the hell is this?!" My mom shouts while showing me a photo on her phone. And then what I suspect was confirmed, because on that photo was me and Ava kissing.

I just stare at them, frozen. I don't know what to say. How do you tell your Christian parents that you like girls and you have a girlfriend? You can't.

"Melanie?!?!?!?" My parents are staring at me hoping that what they are seeing is not true, but I can't tell them that it's not. Because it is.

"What do you want me to say?" Because how do you explain to your parents what's clear as day, I mean we are fucking kissing.

" I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! You wouldn't even deny it. This is wrong." My parents taught me from a young age that a woman and a man are meant to fall in love and get married.

"I KNOW THAT IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE, BUT I LOVE HER!!!" I don't even care that I'm yelling at my parents. They don't even care that I have tears in my eyes.

My dad just stares at me, not saying a word. I don't think he even knows what to say.

"You will end this NOW!! You are going to college in a month, and I will not have my daughter involved in this...this nonsense!" And that ladies and gentlemen is why I never told my parents about my Girlfriend.

I just stare at my parents with tears in my eyes. I know it's no use in fighting with them because I'm just a child and they are my parents.

"Do I make myself clear Melanie Rose?" I know my mom is not going to change her mind when she uses my middle name. And so

"I understand." That is all I can say.

"Good and that... that girl is no longer welcome in my house." My parents knew Ava since we were small, they loved her as her own. Now they took every humanity away from her by calling her 'that girl'.

That day I did what my parents asked of me. I broke up with Ava and continued my last month of school. Avoid her at every corner and every class while I cry myself to sleep every night.
