As I park in the parking lot of the coffee shop, I can feel my heart in my throat and my palms sweating.

"Relax Mel, you got this," I tell myself out loud and take a deep breath.

As I entered the coffee shop, the bel of the door rang at least there were few people there and they did not even seem to be bothered either, except for one person whom I met with the same colour eyes as mine.

My Mother.

Taking one last deep breath and slowly headed to the table where she was sitting.

As I sit down, we do not say anything to each other.

"Hii, my name is Rily, and I'll be your waiter today. May I start you off with something to drink?" The kind waiter says with nothing but happiness in her voice.

She is quite young too, probably only working for the school holiday seeing as I have never seen her here before.

"2 large coffees please," I say forcing a smile on my face.

With that, she leaves to fetch our order.

"So how is Ava doing?" My mother asks, which is kind of surprising seeing as the minute I told them we were together again after many years they did not see me as their daughter anymore.

"She is good, she is thinking of opening her own IT company," I say proudly, as I say that I can feel a smile make it onto my lips. A real one this time.

Before she could say anything else our coffee came, and we quickly ordered something to eat.

"When do you plan on getting married?" She asks as she looks at the ring on my finger.

"What are you doing mum? I know you do not want me to be with Ava let alone marry her, so let us cut the bullshit okay. You can't show up at my door and expect me to welcome you with open arms after you disowned me the minute, I told you we were together again." I say, and the look on her face almost makes me feel bad for my outburst.

Almost, but I cannot help but remember the pain they put me through.

"She starts fiddling with her coffee cup which tells me she is close to tears. I want to comfort her and tell her everything is all right, but it is not all right.

A parent is supposed to love and support you no matter what, and they did not do that.
